May I ask a question?

Since Dan Rather was as close as anyone to knowing he was lying to the people, and was uncomfortable about it, could he have run that piece about Bush's military record too quickly to sooth his conscience?

And since it came to him from someone whom he trusted, where did that person get those records from? Could Rove have had anything to do with putting records that were actually true but were not in that exact form somehow into play?

Those records served Bush and his gang of thugs well. People stopped talking about Bush's record and instead focused on the 'false' reports.

Could it be this was just another R plan that worked for them?

I've always believed that Rove was behind that whole shmoo...his trademark...deceit and lies hidden behind a well-disguised smokescreen...was very obvious. The same thing was done with John Kerry's Vietnam War record, only handled in just the opposite way.

Consider, dori...when Clinton was prez, and the trouble with Kosovo and Bosnia was going on...remember how abhorrant the idea of ground troops was to everyone? Bill Clinton was so reluctant to consider such an option, and Americans were so afraid of another Vietnam...what happened to that abhorrance, that recoiling away from what was unmentionable just a few short years ago?

Now, we just sigh and try not to think of those promising young lives lost...all because Bush has Karl Rove for a brain.

You are right, the issue is Bush's military record and instead the issue became the false documents that were obtained by CBS. It's like everything else that happens in the Bush Administration, somehow the truth comes out, but everything gets twisted around by the media. For instance the reason to go to war were the WMD's. Well, there were no WMD's. The Bush adminstration comes out and says but we deposed Saddam and that is good enough reason to go to war and the media takes that spin and runs with it. Who cares that this was not the reason we were given 2 years ago.
With the CBS story, the truth was that Bush never completed his national guard duty. The fact that forged documents were somehow obtained by CBS became the main story and Bush's guard duty was just swept under the rug by the media.
