Lott On Iraq: ‘Why Do Sunnis Kill Shiites? … They All Look The Same To Me’
Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS), who famously suggested the U.S. wouldn’t have “all these problems” had Strom Thurmond been elected President, said today that the religious differences among Iraqis makes the conflict very difficult for him to understand:

“It’s hard for Americans, all of us, including me, to understand what’s wrong with these people,” he said. “Why do they kill people of other religions because of religion? Why do they hate the Israeli’s and despise their right to exist? Why do they hate each other? Why do Sunnis kill Shiites? How do they tell the difference? They all look the same to me.“

Speaking shortly after a meeting with President Bush and Vice President Cheney, Lott added that Iraq wasn’t among the White House’s priorities.

“No, none of that,” Lott told reporters after the session when asked if the Iraq war was discussed. “You’re [the media] the only ones who obsess on that. We don’t and the real people out in the real world don’t for the most part.“

I guess he could use the same argument for Ireland or Yugoslavia couldn't he.

"I mean, they all looked the same in Ireland- white, isn't it?- but they were catholic or protestant. Right, a good reason to open fire for sure. What do you think president Strom? Thank goodness we're the real people. Lets go get a couple of underage hookers and get drunk, like we used to do. Good thing it doesn't make any difference to us anyway"

Unreal isnt it. I'm back in my state of numbness. Can only shrug my shoulders. I should go back to the drugs I used to take. That was a better numbness, then I just didnt care.

AND there you have it...Bush and his cronies got what they wanted so they're tired of that toy. Kick it under the bed and look around for something else to play with. Like the spoiled frat boys they are, they've become quickly bored. A spoiled frat boy with a low IQ and the attention span of a gnat is the POTUS, so this is to be expected.

Lott wasn't referring to the real world as you and I know it, CE. He was referring to the Ivory Tower world he and Bush's "base" live in. Someone should've asked him how many of his "real world" people had children fighting in Iraq. He and Bush probably discussed that most important of subjects...Lott's Front Porch.
