An Acrostic Poem starts with a built-in theme. Choose a word, write the word on the page reading down, one letter to each line. Then, use the letters to start each new line of a poem. For example:

ELECTIONS

Elected George Bush was not.
Lies enabled him to become the prez.
Effective means of stealing votes.
Counted hanging chads in Florida for days.
Total count was not accurate.
Into the voting machines Diebold hackers went.
Ohio in 2004 was no different.
Now we know how the presidency was stolen.

And the scandals just keep on happening, one obscuring the other.
Neocon friends, neocon agenda
Deals are made in dark and smoke-filled rooms
All the politicians care about are their own re-elections
Less and less Bush obeys the laws of the land
Sees himself as royalty.
