... or either raise your own animals and slaughter them yourself.

I've watched videos about this before and couldn't do it again.
I was a vegetarian for 3-4 years in high school, because of two main reasons. 1) The treatment of animals being raised for slaughter 2) Sometimes I can't stand knowing what I'm eating.
Sometimes, still, I can't eat meat when I think about it too much. Most of the time, though, I'm fine.

Man was meant to eat meat! They're just not meant to abuse animals.

Unfortunately, animal abuse is part of the 'eating animals' business.

Those soy products are delicious!

I know, and it's sad. The most worked up you could get me on anything is animals...abuse, feelings, care, responcibility, etc. I wish things were different...and I know some day they will be. ..It just better be in my lifetime, otherwise I'll be pretty pissed. :angry5:
Aside from that, one thing I don't eat is ground beef in tacos. I'm sure I've mentioned it already, but I use this great organic substitute called 'Crumblers' by Morning Star as my 'beef'. It's very delicious. :)

I couln't agree with that.

A human being digestive system is quite different from a carnivores digestive system. Along with other differences that are in a sharp contrast.

Now I do agree that humans can eat meat and that is because of the strength of our bodies, however strength does have a tolerance and eventually it deterioates.

But hey, we all have to live with choices that we make. So have it your way:

It's aweful watching the abuse of those animals. Like many of you it makes me want to quit eating meat. A few things to remember though. Many animals are carnivores and aren't kind to their kill. every watch national geographic, or a cat who has caught a mouse? Even people are abused all the time! Anyway, due to the ever growing population of the world things are only going to get worse! We we will have less and less land to grow and produce food, and less land to to raise meat. That means even more animals crowed into even smaller yards and barns. Same goes for people.

"Man Was Meant to Eat Meat" was off, you're right. ..Man has a choice in whether they eat meat or not.

Quote:
"The key category in the discussion of human diet is omnivores, which are defined as generalized feeders, with neither carnivore nor herbivore specializations for acquiring or processing food, and who are capable of consuming and do consume both animal protein and vegetation. They are basically *opportunistic* feeders (survive by eating what is available) with more generalized anatomical and physiological traits, especially the dentition (teeth). All the available evidence indicates that the natural human diet is omnivorous and would include meat. We are not, however, required to consume animal protein. We have a choice."

I'm not sure if you were saying man's suppose to be an herbivore or not, but I do agree that man wasn't designed as strickly a 'meat eating machine.'

Very good point!

And regarding those animals whose prey are other animals, are they 100% carnivore?

What other living species are omnivores?

Bears, chickens, pigs, rodents, foxes, racoons (bears), opossums, many birds, beetles, many of the order hymenoptera, flies....etc...... Why were we asking this again?

Our digestive system is much different than that of herbivores as well. Look at animals like the ruminants with their 4 chambered stomachs used to break down the cellulose from plants. Our body can't digest cellulose and just "passes it through".

No, we can eat meat because thats how we evolved. Meat is one of the best sources of essential a(essential means nutrients that must be attained in preassembled for because out body cant build them from their simpler components) amino acids because the protein has every single amino acid we need. Now, we can get those amino acids from non-animals, but the diets must be varied in order to properly supplement all of the bodies needs. (even though one can get all of them from just beans and corn)
