Death of a President movie opens to widespread boycott in US

dpa German Press Agency
Friday October 27, 2006

Los Angeles- The faux-documentary movie Death of a President, which depicts the fictional assassination of President George W Bush, opened in limited release in US cinemas Friday despite a boycott from some of the country's largest theatre chains and advertisers. The British-made movie uses real-life news footage and flawless computerized special effects to create a chilling approximation of the assassination of Bush as a jumping-off point to examine America's response to threats and terror.

This is the movie that was shown on British television a number of months ago. I would go see it, but, I am sure there are cameras taking pictures of everybody that goes into the theaters. :|

widespread boycott?

i'm a little skeptical of just exactly who it is that is actually boycotting.

i'd be betting that most are the braindead koolaid drinkers that are so far to the right you can pretty much surmise them to be the neocon nazi bastards they truely are.

i'll be watchin it if and when it comes out on dvd.

and as for the title of the movie?...............isn't it pretty clear to just about anybody that's not suffering from the self imposed lobotomies incurred from watching too much fauxnews that bush is already considered braindead by most people who have a clue to reality?

could be up for an acadamy award!

pass the popcorn!

They'll "boycott" this movie, (and the report seems to indicate that the boycott is by certain theatres and advertisers rather than by actual patrons) but they'll show the Passion of the Christ 24 hours a day.

Now what will be very interesting is if, in the near future, the producer of this movie is shown to be a bigoted hypocrite...kind of like the producer of the other movie.

ok ok i see what you're sayin cath. i was thinjking of the types of viewers instead of the theater owners.

and as for the owners i'd be guessing that most of thier reasoning is born out of possible fear of legal/corporate reprisals at the hand of the neocon machine.

and that kind of bears out one of mine and a few others theories that fear in this country is now being used as an effective weapon in order to shape and or manipulate the masses into the controlled police state mentality that hitler and his nazi henchmen used so effectively.

our protected freedoms that include the right to disagree or dissent against whomever is in power is fast disappearing.

people like to be scared, as one can witness with "saw III". apparently, the republicans have figured this out and now use terrorism as the new "be afraid" trick.

the movie "death of a president" can be conceived as being real, and since it's bush, who's going to care or even be "afraid"? i don't look at the low numbers as people being supportive of bush, but rather its real life scenario just doesn't appeal to american movie goers. people want fantasy, not reality.
