Autism is a fundamental condition of the neural activity in a person's brain. We don't have the knowledge or capacity to directly target the processes of the brain with anything close to the precision or subtlety required for something of this magnitude and to be perfectly honest that same capability could just as easily be turned to say make people more obedient less independant. Thus it could never be trusted to any established group or authority.

On the contrary, the US government has had the knowledge for years, even decades, but the CDC has been hiding it from us (too many conflicts of interest). You will find other US Dept Studies on the internet from the EPA and USGS that will contradict the CDC !

I was speaking of the "cure" not the damage. The damage done by mercury creates a particular set of conditions within the brain that alter its function. Once the damage is done, it's done. Possibly with a far more advanced understanding of brain function than we currently possess and practical medical nanotech we could repair the brain damage, but we do not currently possess that level of knowledge or technology and are probably at least twenty years away from developing it in as a practical venture. The same technology that might key word on the MIGHT allow that damage to be repaired would also allow a group in power to tamper with the mental state of others and would be far too tempting to misuse for the power hungry.[/i]

Then we are on the same page... I am not quite sure where you got the "cure" part from the Canadian study, though. I think they are simply suggesting removal of mercury dental fillings, not impossible repairs to the brain that have already been damaged.

I was responding to the Bush quote in which he spews on in his typical fashion about how much he will do to fix that which will probably not be fixable for at least two generations due to technological development times when he should be striking at the source. As mankind is the source it is within our power to stamp out the source, you don't cut down a tree from the crown you go for the roots, in Autism's case you go after producers of environmental mercury.
