The Apparent Re-birth of PNAC
By testvet

I am not surprised to see right wing thinkers attacking the win of Ned Lamont as the Democratic cadidate for Senator from Conn, after all he took the radical rights best friend off the ballot, Senator "Sweet Lips" Lieberman.

What I was shocked to see was who wrote the article and the organization for which he works, a non-partisan think tank supposedly for "fighting terrorism and promoting freedom through, research, communications, education and investigative journalism". It sounds nice, but when you look atthe list of members, it looks like a new home for PNAC, you all remember the group who brought us the war in Iraq, Richard Perle, William Kristol, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney et al.

The membership list some of the names shock me: Senator Schumer you have some explaining to do Sir. I can understand old "Zig Zag" Zell Miller being part of this crowd of lunatics, but you how can you associate your name with the hit piece that Andrew McCarthy wrote on August 11, 2006 located here on the FDD website with your name as a member? http://www.defenddemocracy. org/in_the_media/in_the_med ia_show.htm?doc_id=390282&a mp;attrib_id=7378
To quote a few lines

"We are reading only about 24 arrests today. If we were already in the heralded antiwar world of Ned Lamont and the war-against-the-war crowd, it could be much different. We could just as easily be reading about ten jumbo jets exploded out of the sky. Or 3,000 murdered innocents -- mostly American and British citizens.

Reality has once again inconveniently burst the antiwar, anti-security, anti-American balloon, just as the November victory ballrooms were being booked.

Just as central casting was whipping the articles of impeachment into shape. The high crimes and misdemeanors of George W. Bush include: hunting down terrorists, detaining them, interrogating them, penetrating their communications, and following their money.

These damn jihadists just won't cooperate. Can't they read the polls?

As British authorities continue trying to round up around 50 -- fifty! -- mostly homegrown Muslim militants who were attempting to execute over the Atlantic the very plan master terrorists Ramzi Yousef and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed nearly pulled off over the Pacific a dozen years ago, it's worth reminding the triumphalist antiwar Left of an important point."

There is nothing like exaggeration is there, 24 men have been arrested, and they are looking for a couple of men in Pakistan, how does that become 50? Wishful thinking, and I would like to point out, that the British did this with police and Intelligence services, not with 130,000 troops in the field.

So we appear to have a replacement group for PNAC and the names are not that shocking but a few are. Senator Schumer why is your name here" Are you anti-Lamont and part of the we don't want the Anti-war democrats to win this fall group? Exactly what is your position, are you taking Liebermans place as Bush's favorite Democrat?

Here is the list of members and associates, you can decide for your self, what this is about, me I have a good idea, along with a "new middle east" we are getting a new "PNAC" and here is the opening salvo.

Schumer is certainly not liberal. He has said repeatedly on the floor of the Senate that he does not believe in extremes. Looking at the company he keeps, he isn't telling the truth.

Does anyone know how much money we have pumped into military hardware in Isreal? They are swimming in war toys.

I can see that it is good to protect the Jewish people, but that isn't what we are doing. We are turning them into replicas of us.

When people who only care about power are IN power, heaven help the people who care about PEACE!

dori,
This YouTube has the figures on the money in general we send to Israel every year, but I'm not sure which portion is strictly military hardware (no doubt a lot!) :
