POLL: IS ESCALATING THE WAR SUPPORTING THE TROOPS?

I got this question in my email today, and I thought it was very interesting. What do TVNL members think? Vote in the POLL and then please explain why you voted as you did.

Supporting troops does not mean setting them up in a shooting gallery. It means making sure they are sent only where they are really needed--and Iraq civil war is not that place.

It means having the equipment they need when and where they need it. Hasn't happened so far.

It means having support for their families while they are gone. Hasn't happened.

It means having decent care for them when they need that. Looks like the administration fails dismally on that too.

Supporting the troops means using diplomacy with other nations rather than attacking them unnecessarily. Our troops don't like attacking innocent people nor do they want to stay in a country where they are hated for what their government has done.

Supporting our troops means actually caring for and about them. Thumbs down on this administration, they do not support our troops in any way. They don't even count the dead and wounded correctly. Do you believe our troops don't want their fellow members to be acknowledged when they are injured or killed?

Supporting our troops means conducting our government in a way that those troops will not need to be in harms way.

But bloodthirsty people will never believe that...

We lied our way in there so there is no way out. Haven't the military built 5 military airbases in Iraq, strategically located?- Did we ever have an exit plan?- Didn't we build the largest embassy that dwarfs any of Saddam's many palaces? I don't think we ever intended to leave. We blew it long ago in Iran and now in Saudi Arabia. We aren't welcome in Saudi Arabia anyways, as it makes Moslems angry that we as infidels, are on their holy ground. We need a different Base of operations to protect our interests. Remember one of Bin Laden's excuses for hating us. Iraq fills the criteria quite well.

Power and propaganda- politics main objectives- with the goal of making money. That is what our troops are defending. Not our freedoms, definitely not our security, as their presence in Iraq is making the world more insecure. Bringing democracy with the end of a gun is a contradiction in terms. If you swallow that bullshit, then have I got a manure spreader for you! Makes it so easy to swallow and then distribute because it's well lubed with Pork Bellies feeding and defacating their a/effluence over their devoted vegetables.

Dori put together great reasons why we should support the troops by getting them out and I have given the reasons why we shouldn't support our Military/Industrial/Government triple helix dilemma. If you support the troops then get them out now. This thing can only get uglier as we get more aggressive. What next? Pakistan? We'll need grease to slip out of this sticky situation.

Sending more troops in is not supporting the troops. It is stirring up trouble on a global scale and sending a message that far outweighs any gains that we will realize in our war on terror, especially if we are viewed as that terror! It's not a question of who will stand with us, but who is aligning against us. And it's beginning to look like a lot more of them than us. The proverbial crapola is on a collision course with the shit spreader now!

For the sake of sanity, I Voted NO.
