We have had 17 local persons in the military killed in this obscene war. And people still back Bush. No accounting for taste, or lack of it.

Yup, they've also stopped most all commutations from troops / Military over there. (To over here.) Even letters home are censored. Wouldn't want people to find out (daily) the true state of affairs and goings on in Iraq.

Ah, yes. Any communication is censored. Bloggers can no longer blog, at least the ones against the war can't.

May Toll for US Soldiers in Iraq Climbs to 122

Baghdad - The US military reported three more deaths in Iraq on Thursday, taking the death toll to 122 for May, already the worst month for U.S. forces there in more than two years.

May is the third-worst month overall in the campaign for U.S. soldiers, behind November 2004, when 137 soldiers died, and April 2004, when 135 were killed.

The U.S. military reported on Sunday the deaths of seven more of its soldiers, days after it recorded its deadliest monthly toll in more than two years.

A total of 3,487 soldiers have died since the invasion to topple Saddam Hussein began in March 2003.

Saturday was a particularly deadly day in and around Baghdad. Eight U.S. soldiers were killed by explosions or gunfire in different parts of the capital, raising the fatality count to 30 in the last six days, according to The Washington Post.

Guess this means the "surge" is working!

A Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldier was killed when a patrol was attacked with small arms fire during combat operations in a southern
section of the Iraqi capital June 23.
