I'll be looking for you, Skeeter! I'll also make a batch of my famous Southern Biscuit Muffins, which you can enjoy with some homemade blackberry jelly or strawberry jam after you've had the creamed corn and biscuit breakfast. :D

Shock Coffee: This Will Wake You Up!

Shock is sold in convenience stores, specialty coffee shops, supermarkets and wholesale outlets to name a few. Shock is currently sold in the US, Canada and is now expanding around Mother Earth. Shock Coffee has been seen from hospitals to prisons. No, the inmates don't drink it, just the guards.

Waffles covered in fresh strawberries with whipped cream on top. (Belgian waffles are a close second)

My husband and I were given a holiday gift of monthly coffee deliveries.

Today, we received the February offerings: One pound each of Guatemala Atitlan Full City Roast and Ethiopean Mocca.

The aroma that came out of the box when I opened it was incredible. A little newsletter, included in the box, says that the Guatemala Atitlan Full City Roast is from the Lake Atitlan region of west central Guatemala. The lake is surrounded by three spectacular volcanoes and volcanic soil is known to produce exceptional coffees. The coffee is rich, full-bodied with a vibrant acidity. The roast is full city and the flavor and the aroma are captivating.

As for the Ethiopean Mocca.....it's grown high at elevations starting at 4,000 feet above sea level. Moccas are not flavored in any way, but they naturally possess chocolate overtones that make them irresistably rich and flavorful. The coffee is grown on small farms and in shade.

I'll let you know how they actually taste! :D

Catherine,
Be sure to use a permanent screen filter. The paper filters absorb a lot of the oils and other good stuff, while adding stuff you don't want in your coffee.

Nothing better than to talk about how those country breakfasts were back when you was young. I remember well how my mother would prepare the breakfast from the old wood stove, baking the biscuits, preparing the gravy with mixed sausage. And if that wasn't enough, there were the big Dommernecker eggs she fried for all. And to top it off, we had blackberry and strawberry jelly for what we called desert.

Here it is almost noon, and I'm hungry for some biscuits and gravy. Might ask the wife get the flour, etc.. rolling pin out, plus the other goodies to have some for afternoon lunch party.
