I'd like opinions on this, if that's alright.

We've got Halloween candy from last season. No one is eating it. Do you think it would be okay to give it away to some homeless person, rather than throw it away?

Well, I think I'd ask myself if I would want it if I was a homeless person. I'd also check to see if it's got a "sell by" or "best eaten by" date on it. Then decide...but candy that's 9 months old at my house would probably go into the trash.

Okay, I see your point.

Candy seems to last a while. And I've eaten stuff older than that.

I actually buy croissants and pastries from time to time to give to people. Just wanted to expand my offerings.

You're a good person, CZ...and I fully understand where you're coming from. But I once got food poisoning and thought I'd die! It wasn't from candy, but since then, I'm just really, really careful and concerned about the freshness of all food.

I'm guessing that homeless people LOVE having access to fresh food such as what you've been buying for them, no matter how often you can do it.
