That doesn't look good for Vick.

I heard recently that some columnist made a statement that was both shocking, but had some sense of truth to it.

The columnist said something to the effect that Vick might have better luck being accused of rape than what he is accused of now.

Two ways to look at that:
* What does that say about being a rape victim?
* What does that say about a suspects presumed innocence under different circumstances?

Heard this repeated again and again on msm. My question: If Vick had abused one dog, would he be getting the heat he is getting now? I don't think so. He would be getting heat, but not like this.

If Vick was a serial rapest and murderer would he be in as much trouble as he is now? YOU BET! How about if he were gambling on how seriously he could injure women? Yup, still in BIG trouble.

Running a dog fighting ring and raping a women are not in the same category unless you add all the repeat offenses. Rapests should be put away but our misogynistic citizenry don't do that. And who said Vick isn't a potential rapest if he isn't one already? Cruel people do cruel things. Don't think so? Want to leave your seven year old daughter alone with someone who runs a dog fighting ring?

Now, if you find sense to the idea either raping A women or extreme cruelty to many animals is equal, you probably also find sense in condoms and murder being the same thing and both should be punished equally.

Come join my neighbors. You can all chat amicably.

Yeah, looks like some kind of plea bargain to get minimum sentance- 18 months.

But Vick was obviously guilty- caught - at his house doing this? What a fool.

Have to agree with dori here- is raping of women somehow in some way condoned by society- like telling women, "you should be at home with children serving your man who would protect you from this happening? It's obviously your fault for taking risks etc., and finding yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time".

Victim blaming.

I think we had that rape conversation long ago here on TVNL.

Was looking around for news on the hurricane, and got CNN's Anderson Cooper. He had a piece on saying other people think Vick did nothing wrong. One guy called in saying he has 8 pit bulls (wonder what he does with them).

Stephen Smith and Jeffrey Toobin (sp?) both agreed they are just dogs and we should worry about people. On top of that Smith kept throwing in the race card. I just wrote the show telling them the same thing I have been saying here--this was serial abuse and if someone were a serial killer or abuser of humans they would get the book thrown at them. (Didn't add that that excludes the Bush administration though.)

So the general idea is that we should ignore inhumane acts unless they are done to people? I sure am hearing a lot of that!

There is a large faction of idiots who think that because a person is a "sports hero" he or she can do nothing wrong. As long as they're "entertaining" those who enjoy watching them do their thing, they should be left alone to continue their little song and dance. It's rather like those who think that we shouldn't criticize the president or hold him to the same laws you and I obey simply because he's "the president," or that "we're at war." I call BULLSHIT on that type of thinking. It's a sorry-assed EXCUSE for NOT CARING about anything except oneself and the view from his or her head.

I'm also sick and tired of the race card. Vick is a rotten slimeball, regardless of what his color is. In my opinion, he's hardly knee-high to a maggot.

I got a general reply from CNN/Anderson Cooper saying every email they receive they do read but there are too many to answer them all. I didn't expect a reply--just wanted to comment.

I turned the show on again and apparently a lot of people had the same feelings I did.

Sometimes the American people do the right thing!

I've heard that Vick will "plea bargain". He'll have to give up names, as well.

So, here's the sad thing about that: You hear that if he returns to the sport and the clubhouse, he'll be supposedly "shunned" for being a snitch.

You got to love sports and the "role models" it provides. Snitchers - bad; protecting the crooked - good.

I thought role models "do the right thing", and take their lumps when they have to.

I hope someday to read in some obscure southern newspaper on the very last page, as though it's an afterthought, that Michael Vick has stopped breathing.

Vick admits dog killing, conspiracy

Quote:
Vick said he would plead guilty to one count of "Conspiracy to Travel in Interstate Commerce in Aid of Unlawful Activities and to Sponsor a Dog in an Animal Fighting Venture" in a plea agreement filed at U.S. District Court in Richmond, Virginia.

The charge is punishable by up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, "full restitution, a special assessment and 3 years of supervised release," the plea deal said.

Federal prosecutors agreed to ask for the low end of the sentencing guidelines.

They should ask for the HIGH END of the sentencing guidelines! Soft assholes!

Keep in mind who are federal government is at this time.

And again, sports is a religious service isn't it? We couldn't hold anything against our religious people.

Excuse my bitterness, but from what I have heard Vick is going to be able to go back to football as soon as possible.

Disgusting--as disgusting as his dog fighting and killing.

Here's one "fan" who has the right idea:

Image

In this photo provided by Rochelle Steffen, a 6-year-old Weimaraner, named Monte, poses for a photo with a football card of Michael Vick in its mouth in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The remains are being auctioned on eBay. Steffen, gave every Vick card she owned to her dogs and let them go to town on the images of the Atlanta Falcons quarterback who is scheduled to plead guilty to a federal dog fighting charge Monday.
