Thousands Call for Swift End to Iraq War During Demonstrations Across the Country

SAN FRANCISCO (Associated Press) -- Thousands of people called for a swift end to the war in Iraq as they marched through downtown on Saturday, chanting and carrying signs that read: "Wall Street Gets Rich, Iraqis and GIs Die" or "Drop Tuition Not Bombs."

The streets were filled with thousands as labor union members, anti-war activists, clergy and others rallied near City Hall before marching to Dolores Park.

As part of the demonstration, protesters fell on Market Street as part of a "die in" to commemorate the thousands of American soldiers and Iraqi citizens who have died since the conflict began in March 2003. . . .

Brought to mind a part of my recent essay (They're Still) Running the World (on the) Eve of Destruction For What It's Worth----

And if you don’t like it? Then leave.
Or use your right to protest on the street,
Yeah, use your rights but don’t imagine that it’s heard, Oh no no

I especially like the sign: SUPPORT THE TROOPS *** END THE WAR
And the t-shirt in front: FASCISM SUCKS

I didn't do the march, so I missed the "die in".

I like some of the home grown signs, like -- http://www.cindyforcongress.org/
