Cargill says meat processed Oct. 8-11 may be contaminated with bacteria

WASHINGTON - The giant agribusiness company Cargill Inc. said Saturday it is recalling more than 1 million pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

The ground beef was produced between Oct. 8 and Oct. 11 at Cargill Meat Solutions’ plant in Wyalusing, Pa. and distributed to retailers across the country. They include Giant, Shop Rite, Stop & Shop, Wegmans and Weis.

Cargill learned the meat may be contaminated after the Agriculture Department found a problem with a sample of the beef produced on Oct. 8, the company said. The bacteria is E. coli 0157:H7.

E Coli and fecal streptococci are potentially very dangerous bacteria.

I wonder why they allow pornographic movies to show the consumption of these bacteria. Unavoidable when they go straight from derrierre to oral.

Then the gov turns around and acts like you will die if you consume tainted groceries.

I just want our gov to show a little consistency. Are they concerned about public health or not?

The whole idea of 1 million pounds of beef equating to so many thousands of slaughtered cows seems gross enough.

But the beef industry does so well to make all that dead animal meat look so innocuous. Well, as innocuous as E Coli can be disguised.

That movie Fast Food Nation did wonders for me to realize how easy E Coli can occur what with how poorly the slaughtered animals can be cleaned.
