The MSM is actually making up their own propaganda to protect Bush, as he lies about the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran. They are trying to make it sound as if the NIE represented some "new" information, rather than year old stuff that Bush/Cheney have suppressed, while they unsuccessfully tried to get the intelligence agencies to change their findings.
Bush Keeps Up Pressure on Tehran
President Bush said Tuesday that the international community should continue to pressure Iran on its nuclear programs, asserting Tehran remains dangerous despite a new
intelligence conclusion that it halted its development of a nuclear bomb four years ago.
Bush spoke one day after a new
national intelligence estimate found that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in the fall of 2003, largely because of international scrutiny and pressure.
Bush said Tuesday that he only learned of the new
intelligence assessment last week. But he portrayed it as valuable ammunition against Tehran, not as a reason to lessen diplomatic pressure.
Bush is lying when he says he just learned about this. But, TERENCE HUNT | AP White House Correspondent either doesn't know that, or he is deliberately withholding such information. I strongly suspect the latter.A bombshell on Iran
Here is the Tribune editorial on the subject. It is just as deceiving. Note how both authors go out of their way to constantly repeat the lie that this is "new" information.
The Bush administration released a new
National Intelligence Estimate on Monday and it's surprising, both for what's in it and for what's not.
Why the change
It seems inevitable that the new
NIE assessment will take some of the steam out of that effort.
Fox News is taking a different approach in their efforts to protect Bush. They are just doing their best to ignore the story.3 out of 4 Fox primetime shows ignored NIE.
Early Monday afternoon, the Bush administration released a new National Intelligence Estimate revealing that Iran had halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003. Though the blockbuster revelation was featured prominently that night in all three network newscasts, it was all but ignored on Fox News. Steve Benen reports that on Monday night, only one of Fox’s primetime shows — Special Report with Brit Hume — even mentioned the report. On Tuesday, after President Bush held a news conference, the shows did cover it, but with only conservatives and administration supporters discussing it.http://thinkprogress.org/2007/12/05/3-o ... velations/
This is a big problem for the Republican wingnuts. As things continue to go from bad to worse, their news source is forced to abandon it's typical propaganda, in favor of endless stories on Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears, and the missing blond of the week.
