Polar bears who are individual loners ganging up on a Walrus herd to get at the old and pups. Walrus' are huge creatures, bigger than Polar bears.
They are seeking out food they seldom use. Perhaps they are being starved gradually or are there some areas worse than others where polar bears are increasing or decreasing?
The idea that Griz are moving north and competing is because their food is moving too and linked to global warming also as nature re-adjusts itself.
Shoes article says Polar bears are in decline-

What is it we're supposed to believe here! This world is so wishy washy flip floppy that it seems no one wants people to know the truth. May as well stick our heads in a hole and come up for air every few months to see which way the winds blowing.
Vague and doubtful words predominate our dialogue always, as if they just do it to cover their asses and feed bafflegab as much as they can, its intention being just to keep us guessing and at each other.
Divide, stupefy and conquer.
