[/url]

The Department of Agriculture has ordered the largest ever beef recall in the U.S., deeming 143 million pounds of beef unfit for human consumption because of inspection violations. The plant responsible for the suspect meat happens to call the U.S. government, including the National School Lunch Program, one of its best customers.

The USDA said there was only “a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product” but that it was acting to uphold regulations.

Buried in the original article is the answer:

This means all this beef is bound for consumption by animals, both pets and commercial livestock.

I heard that it was mainly because of the treatment of the animals. Don't know if it's true but someone allegedly videotaped sick animals or animals unable to walk being abused by the workers. Could be a rumor... :?

There were videos of sick animals being abused.

From what I understand, the problem with the beef is it might carry disease--such as mad cow and asssorted other problems.

If it has mad cow disease in it, and we do feed it to other animals, it just spreads the problems.

Amazing how a country driven by greed can fu** up literally everything including life itself.
