So im giving my first lecture tomorrow. Its on the Bryophytes (mosses). Im pretty excited, but also nervous. I just hope I dont fuck it all up. Sometimes im good at that.

Im really trying to do something different than how the normal lectures go though. I dont want to be a fact spewer like many of our lab lectures are. I want the students to actually understand the concepts and the relevance. I want them to be challenged, and still excited.

Well see how it goes.

Good luck, greenie! Be sure to let us know how it goes. I'm sure you'll do fine!

Dang, too bad I can't be there because I'm good at confounding professors and keeping the class involved in the discussion. Maybe I should just email some of your students some provocative question ideas to get you all stirred up...like maybe how intelligent design is behind everything and the whole world is only 3000 years old and that all that evolution stuff is just nonsense. Hehehehe.

I bet you will do a great job. Especially if you are patient and speak in a manner that suggests you do want a back and forth discussion, not a fevered note-taking session.

What, lefty? You mean those people who told us they would be in the audience just to make greenie answer those intelligent design questions and to "stir the pot" aren't going to be there? Well, what were we paying them for, I'd like to know?!!!!!!????

Geez...can't trust anybody these days!

Crap. I couldn't download it. Sounds like it will be interesting.

If you are interested, your students are too. Keep that in mind.

And remember they are all sitting there in their underwear.

Good luck gg.

Lectures can be interesting or they can be boring. I agree with dori. If you're enthusiastic, the students will be much more attentive.

Again, be sure to let us know how it goes.

My shrink would say, "Your impression was probably very different that what their impression was..." Tell us what happened and I bet it didn't go nearly as badly as you thought. Plus, even if you did bomb, it was your first try, you have zillions of other chances.

Remember what that great philosopher Scarlett O'Hara used to say: "I'll think about it tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is another day!"

And tomorrow things won't look so bleak. I agree with lefty...you most likely did better than you think you did. AND if you still feel badly...chalk it up to experience and move on down the road. You'll look back at this day and laugh when you're an old hand at giving lectures. I know...I've been there and done that! :D

I am sure lefty and Catherine are right. That still doesn't change your own feelings. Honest, none of us are taking this lightly. We have all had days we wish we could erase.

I wish you would fix that link so we could read your subject matter. It sounds so interesting.

Okay, I get to: You want to download the file Transitioned_to_land.doc [187.00 Kb].

Please wait 15 seconds...

What is supposed to happen now? I have waited 15 minutes and--nothing. What am I doing wrong?
