‘Give Dennis His Due’

Steve Cobble argues in the Nation that Dennis Kucinich never got credit for moving the other candidates leftward the way John Edwards did. Instead, “the snark and abuse offered Kucinich” when he dropped out was undeserved for a congressman from a tough district who has taken admirable and consistent positions on the issues.

I make very few donations to political causes, three in fact. Jesse at TVNL, Harry and Helen at Unknown News, and Dennis Kucinich. His due for getting the Dems talking real pullout of Iraq and real Health Care reform should be a return to Congress without a Lieberman-like independent run. However, if he does loose the primary, I would donate more in an independent run for him to maintain his House seat. After all Proud Liberal does not automatically mean Proud Democrat.

We just saw one of the mostly sleazy, smarmy negative attack ads we
ever saw on Cleveland TV, deliberately lighting our hero Dennis
Kucinich like something out of a Halloween fright movie. His hometown
corporate controlled newspaper is on a vendetta to try to run him out
of town, and they have it on their web site as well.

In this video, grateful union workers remind their fellow
constituents how hard Dennis Kucinich fought for them, saving the
local steel mill, and with it thousands of good paying union and
support jobs. Please make a contribution if you can now to run more
of these spots in the critical last week of the OH primary campaign,
to remind Cleveland of the truth.

Because neither let us forget how hard Dennis has fought for us, by
his sheer force of personal courage bringing impeachment of the most
diabolical Vice President in our history to the floor of House, and
to the Judiciary Committee, where even now it is gathering more and
more support.

Let us stand now with Dennis, just as he has stood for us, so that he
can continue to fight the good fight not only on Cheney impeachment,
but once that is surely underway, on Bush impeachment as well. Let us
not wake up on March 5th and wish we had done just a little more to
save the man who may well have saved our entire Democracy by keeping
the Constitution on the table.

Dennis won't have to play like LIEberman. It would seem the opportunists that tried to unseat him were just too many as five split the opposing votes. Too bad Cheney and Bush have to continue to avoid Vermont, the only state the war criminals have not visited since being in office.

Dream Team only if Clinton were in #2 slot. Voting for a Clinton for number one spot would require a clothespin of epic proportions; the country doesn't need another Republican President with a Democratic label. Desperation must have really set in over at Clinton's headquarters for this balloon to be floated when Obama still maintains 100+ delegate count lead.

For all the talk about a huge win for Clinton, she only netted a gain of nine delegates. Obama will more than make that up in next week's primaries in Wyoming and Mississippi.

Obama will end up with more delegates, and more of the popular vote.

Now there is a headline I can love!

Clinton may be aiming for a Vice Presidential slot. Unfortunately, she seems to be trying to get on the wrong ticket.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- Hillary Clinton told reporters that both she and the presumtive Republican nominee John McCain offer the experience to be ready to tackle any crisis facing the country under their watch, but Barack Obama simply offers more rhetoric. “I think you'll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say,” she said. “He’s never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002.” Clinton was referring to Obama’s anti-war speech he delivered in Chicago before entering the United States Senate.


Clinton: I've crossed commander-in-chief threshold

In a Cabinet-style setting, surrounded by retired military leaders, Sen. Hillary Clinton said the public should ask whether Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama has met the criteria needed to become the nation’s commander in chief.

“I think that since we now know Sen. (John) McCain will be the nominee for the Republican Party, national security will be front and center in this election. We all know that. And I think it’s imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold,” the New York senator told reporters crowded into an infant’s bedroom-sized hotel conference room in Washington.

“I believe that I’ve done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you’ll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy,” she said.



Looks like it's McCain and Clinton vs. Obama.

DEMOCRAT grandees Jimmy Carter and Al Gore are being lined-up to deliver the coup de grâce to Hillary Clinton and end her campaign to become president.
Falling poll numbers and a string of high-profile blunders have convinced party elders that she must now bow out of the primary race.

Former president Carter and former vice-president Gore have already held high-level discussions about delivering the message that she must stand down for the good of the Democrats.

"They're in discussions," a source close to Carter told Scotland on Sunday. "Carter has been talking to Gore. They will act, possibly together, or in sequence."

An appeal by both men for Democrats to unite behind Clinton's rival, Barack Obama, would have a powerful effect, and insiders say it is a question of when, rather than if, they act.

Obama has an almost unassailable lead in the battle for nomination delegates, and is closing the gap with Clinton in her last stronghold, Pennsylvania, which votes on April 22.

Governor Easley is a smart fellow and has been an excellent governor in NC. He'd make a good presidential candidate himself, but I'm surprised at his endorsement of Clinton.

Besides being a respected figure among Democrats in the state, Easley is one of the all-important superdelegates likely to choose the party's presidential nominee.

He would be the second superdelegate from the state to endorse Clinton. Six of its 17 superdelegates have endorsed Obama.

Easley had backed former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards for president before he ended his bid in January. Edwards has not yet endorsed a candidate and is not expected to do so before next week's primary.

Earlier this month, Easley wrote a note to Obama imploring the Illinois senator to take part in a debate sponsored by the North Carolina Democratic Party and televised by CBS News. But the Clinton and Obama camps were unable to agree to a date, and the state party eventually scrapped its plans.

Barack Obama effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday, the Associated Press reported, citing its tally of convention delegates. He would become the first black candidate ever to lead a major U.S. party into a fall campaign for the White House.

NBC News has been maintaining its own tally of public commitments, which stood at Obama being 29 delegates short of the 2,118 needed.

The AP tally was based on public commitments from delegates as well as more than a dozen private commitments. It also included a minimum number of delegates Obama was guaranteed even if he lost the final two primaries in South Dakota and Montana later in the day.

Clinton to New York lawmakers: I'm open to being Veep


Hillary Rodham Clinton has told congressional colleagues she would be open to becoming Barack Obama's vice presidential nominee, saying she would consider it if it would help Democrats win the White House, the Associated Press reports.

Clinton, a New York senator, made the comment on a conference call with other New York lawmakers Tuesday, according a participant on the call.

The senator's remarks came in response to a question from Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez who said she believed the best way for Obama to win over key voting blocs, including Hispanics, would be for him to choose Clinton as his running mate.

"I am open to it," Clinton replied, if it would help the party's prospects in November.
