If you read the histories of most religions, it's certainly reasonable to believe that there had to be something "mind-altering" going on among the founders, and I don't believe any of it was "divine" in nature!

Revisionists sometimes irritate me. 230 years after the fact, we suddenly "find" that Jefferson was beyond redemption and Adams was a patron saint.

Jefferson killed the central bank that Hamilton set up. Adams did the infamous Alien & Sedition Act.

Latter day tyrants/dictators employ some 'history hitmen'.

I am related to John Adams and I admire the guy a lot. However, he stands in the shadow of Jefferson in my opinion.

I just got "Adams vs Jefferson...The Election of 1800" yesterday.

One of the newer FICTION titles that caught my eye, "Eleanor vs. Ike," where Eleanor runs as a last minute replacement when Stevenson dies before the election. Eleanor is probably the only legitimate historical figure that would have had a chance against Eisenhower.

Adams and Jefferson show the power of compromise: Both sides were left being pissed off at not getting their own way. This is one of the War Chimp's biggest failings, he can never arrive at any compromise.

I'm still not sure the nation will survive his tenure. I have long predicted it would be nip and tuck.

Only somebody sitting in the pockets of the central bankers could still be in charge with such absolutely horrendous leadership.

Listening and watching his stand up routine during the McKill press conference today proves he has no idea. He talks about sprinting to the finish in one sentence and the next being in Crawford with his feet up. He jokes about being careful about whom you put in charge of finding a running mate; they might pick themselves, like Cheney. He is so delusional that he talks about continuing success in Iraq & with North Korea and Iran. His handlers really, really need to monitor the dosage of his anti-manic meds.
