News consumers' interest in Iraq remains relatively high, while news coverage has basically vanished. How's that for a disconnect?

In one article, Wash. Post contradicts own suggestion that Dems responsible for "torpedoing" three FEC nominations

Summary: In reporting on former Justice Department lawyer Hans von Spakovsky's decision to withdraw from consideration as a nominee to the FEC, The Washington Post's Paul Kane wrote that "Senate Democrats had refused for a year to confirm von Spakovsky, torpedoing the nominations of three other nominees."

But later in the same article, Kane contradicted his own suggestion that Democrats were responsible for "torpedoing" the other nominations, reporting that Republican Mitch McConnell "had demanded that the entire slate of bipartisan nominees be considered at once or that they be voted on in bipartisan packages of two nominations."

The problem is the journalists of today function as parrots and incapable of doing an analysis of the news that would have pointed out the fallacy of Dems blocking the nominations. Since when are nominees the ones to set the rules for confirmation? Never have nominees been considered in tandem and such a thing is just a promotion of qualification or guilt by association.

Summary: An article in The Hill stated that there are "some marked differences" between bills offered by Sen. Jim Webb and Sen. John McCain addressing benefits for military veterans. But the article cited only one difference and did not mention the ways in which Webb's bill is more generous to veterans than McCain's.

Media advance false claim that Obama's reported transition plans are unusual or unprecedented -- but Presidents Bush, Clinton, Reagan, and Carter also planned ahead.

Are we to believe that McSame isn't also planning ahead?

Summary: Amid reports that President-elect Barack Obama has decided to nominate Clinton Justice Department veteran Eric Holder to be attorney general, Chris Matthews criticized Obama on Hardball: "You could do this in any bureaucratic state, you could do it in the old Soviet Union. ... You don't need elections for this crap." But in 2001, Matthews said of George W. Bush's Cabinet picks, which included veterans of past administrations: "There's some real heavyweights in terms of experience."

I predicted A DECLINE in news coverage on Iraq and avoidance of the word occupation , because most Americans really don't care if U.S. troops are still kicking down doors there, still operating prisons in Iraq and now they are manufacturing consent for Afghanistan the so called " good war " . All Imperialist governments require a complicit media and the case is the same for Somalia , where u.S. backed Ethiopian troops are going on a continuous rampage , killing and raping and the U.S. planes are bombing the country , most going unreported , as well as GAZA , which ALL major networks started censoring several weeks ago .
