Your local television stations want to keep you in the dark.

The FCC
has voted to make TV stations more accountable to their viewers by
disclosing basic information about the ways they serve the public.

Big Media are now suing the FCC to stop the new disclosure rules from
going into effect.

Visit this URL to check out what's at stake and send a loud message
directly to the FCC: http://www.stopbigmedia.com/comment.php

Thanks for the item. I signed it and added a big PS. I asked FCC to place a clause into it to be able to prosecute news media that deliberately lied to the listeners and viewers. I cited Mark Foley's picture being shown on FOX as a Democrat from Florida. I also asked for less cleavage on TV and more modesty.

If you read the newspaper (or watch news on TV - my words) you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper (and watch news on TV - again my words) you are misinformed. MARK TWAIN

Dee, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, I believe the Supreme Court already said it is legal to misinform--something to do with Fox I believe. I should look it up, if I find otherwise I will edit this post to say so.

Unfortunately we are far from a moral nation. We feed kids all kinds of mental garbage and wonder what has happened to the younger generation. It is the same thing that happened to the baby boomers, only they were sold on toothpaste and laundry soap. Now we sell violence, lewdness and various other garbage. It is profitable and it is legal.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if media actually did become more accountable? What a great thought that is!!!

Paper: Extensive ideological, business ties raise issue of manipulation

[/url]

Well, well, well....very interesting that the NYT is actually reporting what TVNL members (and a ton of other leftists) have known for years!

NEW YORK - Many U.S. military analysts used as commentators on Iraq by television networks have been groomed by the Pentagon, leaving some feeling they were manipulated to report favorably on the Bush administration, The New York Times said in Sunday editions.

A Times report examining ties between the Bush administration and former senior officers who acted as paid TV analysts said they got private briefings, trips and access to classified intelligence meant to influence their comments.

"Records and interviews show how the Bush administration has used its control over access and information in an effort to transform the analysts into a kind of media Trojan horse — an instrument intended to shape terrorism coverage from inside the major TV and radio networks," the newspaper said
.
