WHAT IF BOBBY KENNEDY HAD BECOME PRESIDENT?

It is one of history's great "what ifs." What if Robert Kennedy had not been assassinated 40 years ago and gone on to become president of the United States? It's safe to say that his presidency would have followed a different course from that of Richard Nixon. And it may just be that American politics would not be endlessly refighting the 1960s. Kennedy was a less polarizing figure than Nixon, who exploited the divisions that have now hardened into Red States and Blue States.

That would have saved the lives of close to 2 million Vietnamese and tens of thousands of Americans.

Nixon proved to be very hard on the nations psyche. Which proved to be the trickle before the reservoir broke wide open with the BushCheney cabal. Theories abound on what really happened to 'Tricky Dick' of course.

I can not empathize with him due to his posture of bombing the living hell out of most anything. That included encampments housing American POWs in Laos (I believe it was Laos).

After studying the history of our bombing, I have decided it is a chickenshit, and ineffective, way to fight wars. It failed to turn the tide in Germany, Vietnam, or now.

The jury will eternally be out on the decision to drop Fatman and Little Boy. They were dropped within three days of one another. Since Japan was no longer being aggressive, I do not agree with the decision to drop successive nukes within so close a time frame.
