NBC News' Russert dies at 58
[/url]

Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after being stricken at the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58.

Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” broadcast when he collapsed, the network said.

He had recently returned from Italy, where his family was celebrating the graduation of Russert’s son, Luke, from Boston College.

No further details were immediately available.

Upon reading this, I had two thoughts:

1. Karmic paybacks are a bitch and can't be denied. The über-Catholicism of Boston College and visiting Italy was too much for his body and soul to handle.

2. He was recording voice statement(s) in favor of the Articles of Impeachment and/or Vincent Bugliosi's The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, thus forcing Darth Cheney and his minions to cause the apparent heart attack.

Living under the War Chimp has made us all leery of normal causes. He was only two years older than my mother when she died BUT she had a long history of medical problems including quadruple heart by-pass surgery at 48 among other things.

A sudden death of a seemingly healthy major news figure at this point in time is always grist for conjecture.

Hope we find out what he was working on. If he had just told his superiors that he was going to spill the beans on Bu$hco............

Its a little like that guy who died from two "self inflicted shotgun wounds to the head." A wee suspicious.

unfortunately he wasn't as healthy as 1st thought.

he had a form of arterio sclerosis which was under current treatment.

i saw the interview on msnbc in which a doctor explained how a piece of plaque from the artery wall came loose and caused a rather large clot that made it to his heart. he was describing the findings from the autopsy report. sounds like the autopsy was done very soon after he was pronounced dead yesterday. they also said his heart was slightly enlarged.

otherwise the doctor reported that he seemed to be in rather good health. but he also explained how the disease he had can be under control and yet still be a threat to cause what happened yesterday.

sad day for journalism..................true unbiased journalism.

i watched meet the press pretty much on a regular basis. i loved how he pulled no punches whether it was a republican OR democrat. if you thought you were going to slip something by him when you were on his show, guess again. he had the exaustive bulldog style of digging into your past archive of quotes/statements and always find some quip that usually ran completely counter to what you would be currently saying.

most people were scared to go on his show but it was undoubtedly more so with repugs who usually have a lot more to hide than democrats.

that's what i liked about him.

I saw the report about his overall health and the results of the autopsy. It's very sad, but Tim Russert probably worked too hard and kept some long hours that took their toll over time.

Russert Watch

But as the said at MSNBC yesterday, he will indeed be missed.

I find it weird that his autopsy was performed a few minutes after he died.

But I am a cynical, paranoid freak. I freely admit this.
