Try typing with your keyboard bouncing around on one knee.

I'm here to relax, not to win spelling bees. 8)

 Well, I'm glad you're here and chatting away...even if it does seem to be only with yourself often. When I log on at various times, I'm usually the only one here...and the board is empty with no new posts having been made. I also have a lot of admin duties to see to, but it's still a bit lonely...kind of like the "room" echoes! :P

A few more active members would be welcome but that might bring a disinformation agent on board. Ughhh.

Within the last couple of years - a group tried to sell everyone on phonics.

Truth of the matter - phonics are almost as old as day old dirt.

Anyone that is or has worked in family linage can attest to this fact.

While trying to trace one family name like Jones may come up with
Jones - Johns - Johnes - Jonnes - Jonis - Jonneess and on and on.

It stems from a lack of formal education and the numerator spelling a name like it is pronounced or sounds. PHONICS was born many years ago.

But then what kicks does anyone get out of correcting anyone over anything? If you got the meaning out of what was said, why must anyone be corrected?

On the internet it does kind of hit a nerve with me when people misspell things. But I am an English major by training, so old habits die hard. I usually don't correct people online about spelling, unless I am trying to be annoying or make a point about something in particular.

Suzie Q: So I heard you flew to the Super Bowl in your new boyfriends lear jet?

lefty: Yep

Suzie Q: Whats his politics like?

lefty: Far left

Suzie Q: Whats his bod like?

lefty: You could play billiards on his abs, manhood doubles as extension ladder, chiseled face. Women faint and gays pant. Disgusting really.

Suzie Q: When you seeing him again?

lefty: I'm not.

Suzie Q: Do tell.

lefty: He misspelled on his last email.

HA! You don't know how accurate that really is, PT. Hehehehe

I love to read the paper and correct all of the mistakes...
