So folks. I am going to get married on Friday (forth of July). First marriage for me. I'm very weirdly unsentimental, so we are going for the simple justice of the peace deal. I have butterflies in my stomach though.

Hahahaha. Yep, its what I want. He's the greatest. I'm kind of a hard to get to commit kinda person; I've been "engaged" two other times (to two different people) and split both times. This time there was no engagement, but we've been a couple for nearly 4 years and I cannot imagine ever disliking him enough to not want to be around him...so...we're gunna just do it. We just decided yesterday. Well, its not like we didn't know that we were going to get married, we just never said "this is the exact day we are going to marry". Anyhow, i am very nervous now. Its funny, I didn't think I would be at all. Its weird. But I am very happy. I'm not one for pomp and circumstance, so I feel strange about all of the attention I am now getting from my family and friends. Its odd, but on the plus side, we'll get presents! hehehehe

Maybe he'll sing this song to our lefty:

O, my Luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June.
O, my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I.
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a'the seas gang dry!

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear.
And the rocks melt wi' the sun!
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only luve,
And fare thee weel a while!
And I will come again, my luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile!

To be really effective, a true Scotsman (or Scotswoman) should read it!

My father-in-law, who was born in India of Scottish parents, wearing a full kilt of the MacDonald clan, read this poem at his youngest son's wedding in September of 2007, using all the Scottish burrs and rolling of the vowels and the Rs. The groom was also wearing a full MacDonald Clan kilt. My husband and his older brother refused to wear kilts. They looked good but much less dashing in their suits and ties!

Congratulations!! :wav: :occasion5: :love1: [smilie=love together.gif]

As a hopeless romantic that got married so long ago that Gerald Ford was president, I can say I still believe in the institution of marriage if not the marriage itself. I take vows extremely seriously. My one piece of advice; don't let getting married change those rules (ways of living) that are working so well now. The rules changed when I got married and have been a constant source of trouble ever since.

Nah, I won't let it change the rules of anything. My son is thrilled (he's 7 and has know M for most of his life) because he can now "really be my daddy". He's the perfect balance of my insanity and neuroses; being super calm and sweet and kind.

I expect that everything should pretty much be the same, except we can now have the security offered to only married couples (life ins., retirement ben., etc...). Yes, I told you I am very unsentimental. Sorry.

I wish the three of you the best life has to offer. (You - your spouse to be and most of all your son)

Listen very close to the vows you are taking and take them seriously.

Just one word of caution--------Marriage is the main cause of divorce.

Just joking of course.
