Just one more reason McSame should not become the POTUS. His VP wants war with Russia! Palin depth of stupidity makes George W. Bush look SMART!

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will finally at least appear to answer questions asked by a journalist in a three-part interview series with ABC’s Charles Gibson. Palin comes out of the gate with guns blazing, rewriting history about the Georgia-Russia conflict and considering the possibility of war with Russia in the first episode, airing on Thursday. (Yes, that would be 9/11. Coincidence? Nyet.)

For one who lives so close to Russia, Palin seems distressingly unaware that it was Georgia, in fact, that upset the status quo by first attacking South Ossetia on August 8. She could have at least taken John McCain’s lead and looked it up on Wikipedia.

I'M JOHN MCCAIN AND I APPROVED THIS LIE

Robert Greenwald and Co. have collected some of the worst examples of John McCain’s deceptive campaign ads. Straight talk indeed.

This campaign is going to get a lot dirtier.

There are about four tons of mud to throw back at McCain & Palin the book banner/librarian firer.

Well, we can certainly hope so!!! Obama and friends (or the country!) cannot afford to take the high road and stay above the fray. We were told that the abuse he took from the Clinton camp would prepare him to deal with the Repugs. It can no longer be acceptable that Rove and his minions can state any outrageous lie as fact without swift and certain refutation. There is no reason for Obama to become Kerry Jr. He isn't even a member of Skull and Bones.

TALKING POINTS MEMO'S MUCKRACKER LINK

TPM MUCKRACKER

...lots of muck in this report, and it's not all about Sarah Palin, although she's in there a great deal.

Chin Up, John McCain—There’s Always Tomorrow

John McCain’s Tuesday was so filled with gaffes and bad news that no one seemed to notice when one of his top advisers held a BlackBerry aloft and declared “you’re looking at the miracle that John McCain helped create.” That spectacle simply couldn’t compete with former HP CEO Carly Fiorina and, more significantly, the very public failure of deregulation.

As a pillar of the McCain campaign, Fiorina clearly regretted deeming Sarah Palin unfit to run a big company. Saying that McCain was similarly ill-equipped was probably not the best way to diminish her remark. Command of the world’s only superpower, after all, is a fairly serious undertaking for an executive.

The real disaster for McCain, however, is one he cannot blame on the loose tongue of an undisciplined surrogate. The deregulated economy, which McCain, his advisers and his party have built over decades, is unraveling.

The collapse, bankruptcy or virtual socialization of one major financial institution after another has hit with such force that even McCain cannot deny the pressing need for government oversight. He’s running ads right now to that effect.

Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel has openly questioned whether Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has the experience or qualifications to effectively serve as president, the Omaha World-Herald reported Thursday. Also, Hagel’s not buying the argument that Alaska’s proximity to Russia gives Palin any particular edge or special insights about U.S.-Russian relations.

Omaha World-Herald:

“She doesn’t have any foreign policy credentials,” Hagel said Wednesday in an interview. “You get a passport for the first time in your life last year? I mean, I don’t know what you can say. You can’t say anything.”

Palin was elected governor of Alaska in 2006 and before that was the mayor of a small town.

Democrats have raised questions about Palin since Sen. John McCain picked her as his vice presidential running mate. Most national Republican officeholders have rallied to Palin’s candidacy.

Palin has cited the proximity of Alaska to Russia as evidence of her international experience.

Hagel scoffed at that notion.

“I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, ‘I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia,’ ” he said. “That kind of thing is insulting to the American people.”

EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BEFORE CASTING A VOTE FOR JOHN MCSAME!

McCain and the POW Cover-up
The "war hero" candidate buried information about POWs left behind in Vietnam
Research support provided by the Investigative Fund of The Nation Institute. This is an expanded version, with primary documents attached, of a story that appears in the October 6, 2008 issue of The Nation.

John McCain, who has risen to political prominence on his image as a Vietnam POW war hero, has, inexplicably, worked very hard to hide from the public stunning information about American prisoners in Vietnam who, unlike him, didn't return home. Throughout his Senate career, McCain has quietly sponsored and pushed into federal law a set of prohibitions that keep the most revealing information about these men buried as classified documents. Thus the war hero who people would logically imagine as a determined crusader for the interests of POWs and their families became instead the strange champion of hiding the evidence and closing the books.

Almost as striking is the manner in which the mainstream press has shied from reporting the POW story and McCain's role in it, even as the Republican Party has made McCain's military service the focus of his presidential campaign. Reporters who had covered the Vietnam War turned their heads and walked in other directions. McCain doesn't talk about the missing men, and the press never asks him about them.

The Next President’s Supreme Legacy

By Ellen Goodman

I really hate to bring it up. We already have two branches of our national government in full-scale meltdown. The president looks like a guy pleading before the parole board for early release. The Congress makes “dysfunctional” sound like a compliment.

But there is the third branch also in dire need of a rescue operation. Oyez, oyez, or should I say oy vey. I give you the Supreme Court.

When the court opens Monday, it will look like an oasis of calm in the capital. There are no neon-bright cases on the docket this term. Indeed, my personal favorite is the case of the “fleeting expletives,” a suit brought against—and made for—Fox News, asking whether the FCC ban on dirty words covers the occasional Paris Hilton outburst.

But even the court’s routine cases will wrestle with personal injury suits, job discrimination, sexual harassment and the environment. The not-so-fleeting fact is that the court ultimately touches every life. And so I come reluctantly to my quadrennial and usually futile plea to consider the court when you get into the presidential voting booth.

Most Americans have some guilty, civics-class understanding that the Supreme Court hangs in the electoral balance. More than 85 percent tell pollsters that the court is either very or somewhat important in how they cast their vote for president. But the court rarely rises to the top of the voting issues.

In support of my plea, take this pop quiz. What are the three longest lasting legacies of the Gerald Ford administration—and the Betty Ford Clinic doesn’t count. The answer? John Paul Stevens, John Paul Stevens, John Paul Stevens—88 years old and still on the bench. (OK, Dick Cheney was Ford’s chief of staff, but let’s not go there.)

George W. Bush’s shadow will hover over the country long after he’s gone, in the shape of John Roberts and Samuel Alito. In just three years and counting, the Roberts court has chilled desegregation efforts, allowed the first abortion ban with no exception for a woman’s health, made it harder to claim employment discrimination, and easier to mix church and state.

Begala: McCain sat on board of racist group

NBC's Tom Brokaw talked to Paul Begala about how the McCain campaign is attacking Barack Obama's association with William Ayers, who was a member of the Weather Underground.

Brokaw played a clip of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin criticizing Obama's connection to Ayers by referencing a New York Times article published on the subject.

"It turns out one of his earlier supporters is a man who, according to The New York Times, is a domestic terrorist," Palin said.

After pointing out that Obama was eight years old when Ayers' planned the attacks, Begala believes "guilt by association" attacks are dangerous territory for McCain.

Begala said, "This guilt by association path is going to be trouble ultimately for the McCain campaign. You can go back -- I have written a book about the candidate. A dozen researchers go through him. I didn't even put this in the book. John McCain sat on a baord.

"It was the U.S. Council for World Freedom. It was chaired by a guy named John Singlaub who wound up involved in the Iran Contra scandal. It was an ultra conservative right-wing group.

"The Anti-Defamation League, in 1981 when McCain was on the board, said this about this organization. It was affiliated with the World Anti-Communist League, the parent organization which ADL said had increasingly become a gathering place, a forum, a point of contact for extremists, racist and anti-Semites."

This video is from NBC's Meet the Press, broadcast October 5, 2008.

Hmmm...so, now we know why McSame didn't want to look at Obama during the first debate.

Looks like McSame supports domestic terrorism! AND this is no LIE!

McCain Voted To Protect Domestic Terrorists Who Carry Out Violence At Abortion Clinics

This morning on CBS’s Early Show, McCain-Palin campaign spokesperson Nancy Pfotenhauer attempted to defend Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R-AZ) debunked claims that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) has been “palling around” with former radical William Ayers. Referencing a recent New York Times article, Pfotenhauer claimed that if McCain “hung out with somebody who had bombed abortion clinics” it would be a legitimate topic of discussion. She explained:

PFOTENHAUER: The article also concluded is that if Senator McCain had hung out with somebody who had bombed abortion clinics, no one would consider [raising the issue] illegitimate.

Watch it:

Pfotenhauer’s invocation of abortion clinic bombers in defense of McCain is ironic given that McCain has repeatedly voted against protecting Americans from domestic terrorists in the anti-choice movement. On multiple occasions throughout his career, McCain sought to limit the government’s ability to punish violent anti-choice fanatics by:

– Voting against making anti-choice violence a federal crime. As the Jed Report notes, McCain voted in 1993 and 1994 against making “bombings, arson and blockades at abortion clinics, and shootings and threats of violence against doctors and nurses who perform abortions” federal crimes.

– Opposing Colorado’s “Bubble Law.” McCain said he opposed Colorado’s “Bubble Law,” which prohibited abortion protesters from getting within 8 feet of women entering clinics [Denver Post, 2/27/00]. The law was later upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.

– Voting to allow those fined for violence at clinics to avoid penalties by declaring bankruptcy. NARAL Pro-Chioce America notes that McCain “voted to allow perpetrators of violence or harassment at reproductive-health clinics to avoid paying the fines assessed against them for their illegal acts by declaring bankruptcy.”
