Kate Beckinsale delivers a searing performance in "Nothing But the Truth" as a journalist who spends a year in jail rather than reveal a source. But she shouldn't count on a rave from former CIA operative Valerie Plame.
Director and writer Rod Lurie makes no secret that Plame, in part, inspired his movie. In it, Vera Farmiga plays a covert agent who is outed after her ambassador husband criticizes the White House for invading a foreign country. Lurie also admits he modeled Beckinsale's character after former New York Times reporter Judith Miller, who went to jail for 85 days for refusing to testify before a grand jury investigating who blew Plame's cover.
