BLUMENTHAL HEAVILY FAVORED

When Chris Dodd retired last night his seat went from one of the most vulnerable to one of the safest for Senate Democrats. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal leads all three of the Republicans in the race by at least 30 points in polling we conducted Monday and Tuesday night before Dodd's announcement.

Blumenthal is unusually popular, especially in hyper partisan times when voters like few politicians. 59% have a favorable opinion of him to just 19% who see him negatively. It's no surprise that he's liked by 71% of Democrats and 60% of independents, but even Republicans view him favorably by a 37/35 margin. It doesn't take a lot of hands to count the number of Democratic politicians with positive numbers among GOP voters these days.

Blumenthal leads Rob Simmons 59-28, Linda McMahon 60-28, and Peter Schiff 63-23. It would take an epic collapse for him not to be Connecticut's next Senator.

Now if CT could just get rid of Lieberman....no chance that old fart will retire...

I've been waiting for this to happen...Chris Dodd leaving the Senate. His poll ratings have been falling since he quit the Presidential race in 2008. More so, when Mrs. Linda McMahon, the "Body Slam gal" and CEO of the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) put her mug into the senate race, Chris Dodd was going to have a hard time beating her....so say the pundits in Connecticut. I've heard she has the money, and we all know the "red necks" in her state who they will vote for. Also, look out, little "turn coat" Lieberman might sign on as her sidekick.

I hesitate to think that Chris Dodd would be willing to "sacrifice himself" for the Democratic causes, but maybe he saw the writing on the wall as to his own defeat in November and decided to bow out gracefully. IF it's true Blumenthal is favored above the Republicans, then I'm glad Dodd is going away to enjoy his federal health insurance and all of his millions in a retirement most of us will only dream about.

Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut

Sen. Joseph Lieberman's (I-Conn.) role in upending health care negotiations is costing him dearly at home.

A new poll by Public Policy Polling has the Independent senator losing support in his home state, not just among Democrats but among independents and even Republicans as well.

More than 80 percent (81 percent) of Democrats now say they disapprove of the job Lieberman is doing with only 14 percent approving. Among Republicans, 48 percent disapprove of the senator with just 39 approving. And among independents, 61 percent disapprove of Lieberman's antics with just 32 percent approving.

"It all adds up to a 25% approval rating with 67% of his constituents giving him bad marks," the study concludes. "Barack Obama's approval rating with Connecticut Republicans is higher than Lieberman's with the state's Democrats

I have the feeling he doesn't care about the people of Conn anymore than he cares about anyone else. He seems to hate everyone.
