Shame Of America: Desperate Man Robs Store For One Dollar In Order To Go To Jail To Get Health Coverage

James Richard Verone of North Carolina spent his whole life playing by the rules and staying out of trouble. Having worked as a delivery man for Coca Cola for 17 years, Verone was known as a hard worker and honest man.

Yet when he was laid off from Coca Cola three years ago, Verone was desperate to find work. He eventually found employment as a convenience clerk, yet he began to notice a protrusion in his chest. He developed arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, and soon the pain became too much for him to bear. He filed for disability, but he was denied any sort of coverage by the federal government.

So earlier this month, Verone drove to a local RBC Bank and told the teller he was robbing them for a dollar. He said he wanted to rob the bank in order to go to jail and get medical coverage:

It would be so much cheaper on the tax payer if we simply had a single payer system in place. As one responder to the story said;

Universal coverage would solve so many problems in America. Is that why Rs fight against it? Or is it totally the money by insurance companies buying government?

My ex is getting health care from the VA. You would not believe the ease of thata system. You walk in, the doctor sees you, you are provided with meds, and any helpful aids you need, and you walk back out. Even transportation to the hospital is free. What a great help to only have to worry about your health, not about having to make payments, how to get there, can I afford the medecine, etc.

Go to a VA and see if that isn't what everyone in America needs to have! It would make us a healthier country and one that could concentrate on the problems facing our nation, not on how we are going to get through today, every day.

The politicians of both parties seem to prefer that the general American citizenry live the majority of their lives in chaos and in a state of flux nowadays. It's been that way since Bush was given the presidency by the SCOTUS in 2000. If the health care you describe, dori, as being what your ex gets as a veteran, he has to be feeling pretty positive about his over-all experience with the VA. I'm sure it's similar to the kind of care our political servants get. Heck, if they're in Congress, they don't even have to get in a car to visit a medical professional. They find him or her right there in the Capitol Building! Your ex can concentrate on his health and hopefully, getting well. The AA (American Aristocrats) don't have to worry anyway, and our political servants are in that class, every one of them. Even the poorest of them is considered to be a rich person! Hard to believe that the same class of people actually established the Constitution, isn't it?

But, think....if our society was allowed to feel positive about their future anymore, they might not be so easily indoctrinated by the tea baggers, Faux Noise, and the right wing, religious extremists. Turn back to God and he will provide! A society feeling prosperous and progressive isn't so easily swayed...and I am beginning to believe that there are many conservative Dems who are just as bad as the Republicans and their teabagger cohorts.

Impossible to believe...

I don't for a second believe our Founding Fathers (or Mothers) were as egocentric or greedy as the people in our government today.

People like Bernie Sanders and the late Ted Kennedy stand out because they actually cared about our country and it's people. How quaint, eh?
