Known as the James Webb Space Telescope. It's slated to be launched in August, 2011 and will take up a position 1 million miles from earth. The telescope will trace how life evolves and where we come from. The 4 themes scientists are forming their enquiries around are: star and planet formation; the assembly of galaxies; the first light of the universe; and, the origins of life.

The telescope sounds like it's straight from some hollywood epic. Its mirror at 6.5meters across, is far too large to launch into space intact. So it's made of 18 smaller pieces that will unfold and fit together once the rocket takes up location in orbit. It will sit in the cold (-230Degrees Celsius) and observe the infrared. As it won't be close enough to service, each system has a back up against system failure.

It hopes to see as far as the edge of space, which is expanding, and collect information.The objects at the farthest edge of the universe, the first light objects that are the oldest, emit a characteristic wavelength.

Hopefully science will be able to see other habitable planets and peer into the living rooms of the aliens who inhabit them, thus becoming the first peeping Toms of interstellar space.

We're tired of their UFO's coming here and invading our privacy. Lets see how these aliens like our invasion of their privacy.

i was reading about that...fascinating. they also have a telescope here on earth in hawaii that is supposed to be more powerful than the hubble...i forgot the name of it.

they were studying black holes and they found out that every galaxy has a black hole. some are huge others not. (size relevant to the universe..huge means like 10 billion times the mass of the sun)

now for the interesting part....as black holes suck all matter into them, they also emit gases and these gases form stars. so, what this means is as black holes remove "life" they also create it.

now the question (among many) is they are trying to determine how or where a black hole originated. they believe them to be the creation of each galaxy.

Being the creation of each galaxy, somehow they create the conditions of life in each star, as when a star dies, it explodes in a burst of orgasmic delight and spreads their seeds throughout the universe. Then it seeks out randomly, those planets which formed from dust clouds into solid matter, with the right conditions for life and it evolves into a living breathing entity. Intelligent design is random at best and depends on black holes, time and space. Wow. We are truly stardust.
