Light therapy or commonly known as
light box therapy is basically the use of light rays to treat different health ailments. It is most commonly use to treat depressive and sleep disorders. It is also helpful in curing skin ailments such as hyperbilirubinemia. Light therapy is most frequently used in treating seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a specific type of major depression, one which reoccurs at specific times in the same year. Light box therapy is the use of natural (sun light) or artificial light. It is typically administered using a light box which is made up of a set of fluorescent bulbs or tubes although the best form of light therapy is the exposure to full spectrum wavelength of natural sunlight but it is not always possible for many people to get outdoors . So by light therapy we mainly consider exposure of our body to light. It helps in treating SAD, many skin diseases and depression.
