FOOD FOR THOUGHT: If every subscriber to this mailing list donated $1 per week our minimum financial needs would be met. If we doubled the size of our list it would only take $0.50 per week. Being financed to this point would mean that TvNewsLIES could pay for its overhead and any money over this amount could go towards hiring reporters and expanding the new radio program. It would also allow TvNewsLIES could repay my original investment so that I can do things like pay the rent and buy food! Just something to think about. http://tvnewslies.org/html/an_urgent_message.html

Editor’s Comments - http://tvnewslies.org/blog

TVNL Editor's Comments: CNN’s Trusted News

With everything going on in our world today (see the rest of this newsletter), CNN’s focus this morning was on a cyclist who juiced himself up with testosterone. This was their number two story on their top story list and it was the topic that dominated their morning on-air discussions. How do these people have the nerve to call themselves journalists? Think about it! – Jesse, Editor, TvNewsLIES.org

QUESTION: Have you forwarded this e-mail to anyone today? Consider doing so for you will be helping to inform the people of this nation about the vital issues that are hidden from them by our corporate media. Make this nation a better place, educate, inform and enlighten your fellow citizens!

If you believe that the American corporate media are our greatest enemy let the people know how you feel.

WAR : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#war

· Ambassador claims shortly before invasion, Bush didn't know there were two sects of Islam - The three described what they thought would be the political situation after the fall of Saddam Hussein. During their conversation with the President, Galbraith claims, it became apparent to them that Bush was unfamiliar with the distinction between Sunnis and Shiites.
TVNL Comment: How can someone this stupid be propped up as president?

· Protesters in Baghdad Denounce U.S. and Israel - The protest, the largest of several demonstrations in Iraq since the Israeli-Lebanese conflict began three weeks ago, filled 20 blocks of a wide, squalid boulevard and dozens of side streets in the Shiite-dominated Sadr City section of the capital.

POLITICS : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news#politics

· The 'bubble' presidency - It's now well acknowledged that Bush is happy in his bubble of self-imposed isolation. He meets with foreigners but without true give-and-take even in crisis conversations. Foreigners visit the White House as they used to go on bended knee to ancient Rome. Bush travels but sees few real people. All is scripted. He talks with advisers but rarely interacts with members of Congress, even senior Republicans.

· Group opposes loss of signing statements - A group of former Clinton administration lawyers are urging the American Bar Association to reject its panel's call for presidents to stop issuing ``signing statements" that reserve the right to bypass laws, saying the problem is with President Bush's use of such statements, not the mechanism itself.

· Bush Starts 10-Day Texas Vacation - President Bush arrived here Thursday evening to begin a 10-day stretch at his Prairie Chapel ranch, his longest planned period away from Washington during this summer vacation season.
TVNL Comment:
Destroying the world is hard work. He needs a good rest.

ECONOMY : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news#economy

· Rising jobless and cost-of-living figures: stagflation on the way? - Unemployment crept up to a seasonally adjusted 4.8 percent in July, its highest level in five months. That, combined with rising inflation, which clocked in at a 14-year-high annual rate of 4.3 percent in June, raised fears that energy prices may be slowing the economy while driving prices up--a recipe for potential stagflation.

9/11 News : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#911

· Eleven (11) Questions Avoided by the Media in Recent Reporting - Recent articles in corporate media examine deception and lying by the Department of Defense relative to the attacks of September 11th 2001. They shed light on an effective cover-up by the 9/11 Commission in its refusal to bring Government deception to the American people by way of their discredited 9/11 Report. Links to these articles follow as do 11 questions which these revelations and NORAD tapes beg to be asked and which must be answered:

· Book: Sept. 11 Panel Doubted Officials - Republican Thomas Kean and Democrat Lee Hamilton also say in "Without Precedent" that their panel was too soft in questioning former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani — and that the 20-month investigation may have suffered for it.
TVNL Comment: They seem to be covering their asses as the truth about 9/11 spreads!

· Group of 9/11 widows 'question the veracity of the entire Commission’s report' - Four widows instrumental in getting Congress to push President Bush to create the 9/11 Independent Commission are insisting that it "failed in its duties" on the heels of two recent news reports which allege that some commissioners knew they were being "deceived" by NORAD officials, and the widows are now questioning "the veracity of the entire Commission’s report

CONGRESS : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#congress

· Prosecutors mull pre-election indictments in Congress - Federal prosecutors are unsure whether they should issue indictments for members of Congress prior to the November elections, as the decision might “throw their congressional races into disarray,” The WALL STREET JOURNAL is reporting today.

DOMESTIC : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#domestic

· U.S. Threatens Suit if Maine Probes Verizon Ties to NSA - The Bush administration is threatening to sue if Maine regulators decide to investigate whether Verizon Communications illegally turned over customer information to the National Security Agency.
TVNL Comment: The Bush administration is opposed to investigations that look for criminal activity. What does that say to you?

· Justices rule same-sex couples can adopt - Indiana’s Supreme Court let stand a ruling that allowed unmarried couples, including those of the same sex, to adopt children through a joint petition that gives both partners equal custody.

· New Voters, Unaffiliated Rush To Join Democrats - But the Lamont campaign says the numbers show that people are responding to the challenger's message.
TVNL Comment: What's the point? Elections are not fixed. Votes don't matter. The people don't matter.

ENVIRONMENT : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#environment

· More Frequent Heat Waves Linked to Global Warming - While it is impossible to attribute any one weather event to climate change, several recent studies suggest that human-generated emissions of heat-trapping gases have produced both higher overall temperatures and greater weather variability, which raise the odds of longer, more intense heat waves.

· Pentagon silent on inquiry into Cunningham contracts - Eight months after former Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham confessed to taking massive bribes in exchange for providing at least $230 million in questionable defense and intelligence contracts, the Defense Department inspector general still has not determined whether any of those projects were improper.

· G.I. Crime Photos May Be Evidence - Those soldiers, along with others from their checkpoint, walked over and took detailed forensic photographs of the charred and bullet-riddled bodies, as if it were a routine investigation of an insurgent attack, according to a defense official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

· Latest Jailing of Journalist Sending A Message to Bloggers? - The jailing of a video journalist this week is turning up the heat on the growing list of reporters ordered to cough up information to federal grand juries. It also is sending a powerful signal: cooperate or face prison time.
TVNL Comment: This nation seemed to forget the press is the only "industry" that is protected by the Constitution. There is a reason for that...it is so they can protect the Constitution. Freedom is dead in
America.

· PBS Firing of Host of ‘The Good Night Show’ Draws Protests - On Thursday PBS’s own ombudsman, Michael Getler, tackled the topic for a second time and wrote that Ms. Martinez’s firing had “too much of a whiff of after-the-fact loyalty oaths and purity checks on performers who do lots of different things.”

· CNN hires Castro's estranged daughter - With Cuban leader Fidel Castro ailing after 47 years in power, CNN said Thursday it had hired his estranged daughter, Alina Fernandez, as a network contributor.

· Israel kills 33 farm workers in Lebanon air strike - Israeli war planes killed at least 33 fruit-pickers, mostly Syrian Kurds, when they attacked a farm just inside Lebanon's border with Syria on Friday, witnesses and officials said.
