85% of people could be affected by climaate changeA new study estimates that about 85 percent of the world’s population could be seeing climate impacts.

Researchers used machine learning to map out an estimated 100,000 studies of climate-related impacts and combined their analysis with data on human-caused changes in temperature and precipitation.

Climate change has been linked to weather impacts including heat waves, more frequent and intense precipitation and droughts.

The study was published in the journal Nature Climate Change.

They found there are temperature or precipitation trends that are at least partially attributable to human-influenced climate change visible on — excluding Antarctica — 80 percent of the world's land, where 85 percent of its people live.
