At least six people were killed in a US drone strike in northern Pakistani tribal region bordering Afghanistan on Sunday, said a security official, an attack strongly condemned by Islamabad.
The officia told reporters that US drones fired four missiles into a militant compound and at least six militants were killed and three others were wounded.
The Foreign Office said in a press release that Pakistan has repeatedly emphasized the importance of bringing an immediate end to drone strikes. The Government of Pakistan has consistently maintained that drone strikes are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives and have human rights and humanitarian implications, the press release added.
The Pakistan government strongly condemned the US drones strike that took place in South Waziristan on 22 September. The attack took place in Shawal area near Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal district, along the Afghan border.
The drone strikes are deeply unpopular in Pakistan but US considers the drone strikes vital in war against terrorism.
