Former President Donald Trump on Friday suggested that people need identification to purchase groceries, repeating a wild claim he’s pushed in the past.
“You have voter ID to buy a loaf of bread. You have ID to buy a loaf of bread,” he said at a summit of the Concerned Women for America, a conservative group, in Washington, D.C.
Trump has made similar assertions over the years. During a 2018 rally, he stated that “you need a picture on a card, you need ID,” to buy groceries. Months later, he suggested that there’s an ID requirement for cereal purchases.
In 2019, the former president received pushback for another supermarket-related claim when he grocery stores would “work along” with federal employees amid a government shutdown.
TVNL Comment: The moron has never purchased anything in a grocery store in his life. He probably saw people paying with credit cards and had no clue about what he was seeing. Scary.
