So How High is High Blood Pressure?
(published Thursday, 28 August 2008 09:50)
After I spin through the so called news channels each morning to see what drivel is being discussed or what gossip is taking place I settle in to some comedy. I love the classics and I try to catch All in the Family when I can. So I caught it this morning.
Today's episode involved Archie stressing out over having to take a company physical. He was worried because his blood pressure was too high. I estimate that Archie was in his 50s at the time, a little overweight and he smoked cigars and drank beer. So health was not exactly a high priority for him. None the less the episode concluded with Archie being diagnosed with what the doctor described as " on the border of high" blood pressure, but good enough to pass the company physical.
All in the Family was filmed in the 1970s. Guess what the writers of the program understood to be "borderline high" blood pressure for an overweight man in his 50s back then? Well, the doctor on the show told Archie not to worry because his blood pressure was 168/95. My blood pressure almost went through the roof when I heard this!
So it started me thinking...do we know more about our health now, or are doctors just trying to sell more medicine? Are they artificially setting standards so that more of us require treatment in the form of expensive dangerous prescription medicine?
For the past few years as I battled severe post 9/11 asthma my blood pressure has been high every time I went to the doctor. I have had readings of 148/98 and such. At home it got a little lower. I could relax enough to get it down to 138/84. Last time I saw my doctor he was so concerned that he wanted me to wear a 24 hour blood pressure monitor.
Several years ago my doctor put me on Advair because I was told that if I took my Albuterol inhaler more than twice a week I needed to be on a maintenance medicine instead of using a rescue inhaler. In the past I was told to use it any time I felt the need. What changed?
But recently I have forced myself off of the new asthma medication that I have been using for the past few years, Advair. I believe that maintenance medicine Advair had made my asthma far more severe. It became almost unresponsive to Albuterol, which used to work like a charm for me. I really thought that my life was in jeopardy many times because my asthma would no longer respond to emergency inhalers. So I felt that I had to get off Advair. I honestly believe it was killing me.
To get off the Advair I had to do several things. I started going for acupuncture treatments. I stopped eating wheat & dairy, and I started taking baking soda, that's sodium bicarbonate, every day or two (to raise my blood alkaline levels). Now my asthma is FAR less severe and it once again responds very well to Albutorol. I get it too often but it is no longer life threatening when I do. These improvements started to become apparent within about 2 days, by the way.
Now here is the most interesting part of all this...you would think that having borderline high blood pressure would make taking 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda in a glass of water every day dangerous. After all it is sodium, and sodium is supposed to be bad for people with high blood pressure. Well, guess what...I took my blood pressure two days ago and it was 116/74. The day before that it was in the 120s over something in the 70s. I took it several times to be sure. Even right after taking Albutorol it only went up to about 134/82.
My pulse is better too. Two weeks ago when I went for accupunture my pulse was 88. Two nights ago when I went for acupuncture my pulse was 64.
So what's the deal? Why is my old medicine working again? Why was it OK to take Albuterol whenever I needed it and then it became bad to take more than twice a week? Why was 168/95 OK in the seventies and 140/85 too high now?
There surly is something to be said for understanding more about the body now than in the past. There is something to be said for advances in medicine. But what effect does the incentive to sell medicine and make money on treating conditions have on diagnosing conditions where they do not exist? I'll tell you, this whole topic is making me fidgety. I think my leg just moved. Maybe it's restless. Is there a pill for that? Think about it. Jesse Richard - Editor, TvNewsLIES. org

US warning to court in alleged torture case
(published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 20:36)
The US state department yesterday warned that disclosure of secret information in the case of a British resident said to have been tortured before he was sent to Guantánamo Bay would cause "serious and lasting damage" to security relations between the countries. Stephen Mathias, a legal adviser to the department, also claimed that the "national security of the UK" would be affected by disclosure of the details of the detention and interrogation of Binyam Mohamed, 30, who is accused of conspiring with al-Qaida. Lawyers for the Ethiopian national have been arguing in the high court that they should have access to details of his interrogation from the time he was detained in 2002 until he was taken to Guantánamo Bay - where he is still held - in 2004. Mohamed claims that he was tortured by, among other methods, having his penis cut with a razor blade.

More and More People Are Catching on to Mainstream Media Lies

Hitler's propaganda henchman Dr. Goebells said, "If you tell people a big enough lie, often enough, they will believe it." There are many definitions of lies and the Thesaurus has a great source of words to describe the distorting and twisting of any facts. Among the word variations that cover the outrageous manipulations we experience daily are fabrication, inference misstatement, falsification, evasion, deceit and deception. A lie is the deliberate withholding of any part of the truth from someone who has a right to know.

Low Cholesterol Increases Cancer and Death Risk
(published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:34)
In a major shot fired across the bow of the statin marketing machine, the levels of LDL cholesterol that are the artificial targets of "health" promoted by the American Heart Association (AHA) are now found to be associated with a significant increased risk of cancer and death. The AHA recommends an LDL level of 100 for prevention and 70 for high risk patients. In the new study an LDL level of 107 was associated with a 33% increased risk of cancer and death, an LDL level of 87 was associated with a 50% increased risk. As the LDL goes lower the risk keeps getting worse. These arbitrary AHA levels for LDL cholesterol were established by "experts" with direct financial ties to the statin industry , who knew full well that reaching their artificially low target levels for LDL would require double and triple doses of statin drugs, thus dramatically increasing sales (which has indeed happened).

What’s more as the NYPD stopped for a look at the truck, two men were seen fleeing from it and were apprehended by the police.
The reports include the famous or infamous Israeli-owned Amdocs Ltd., reported by Fox to be spying for Israel through the telecommunication products it sells and systems and services it operates and offers. Amdocs, in fact, stores every phone message or request for information made.
Israel has been listening to every phone in America for years and has the technology to monitor and record who any individual is calling, anywhere in America. answer why FBI letters sent out to Internet service providers seeking information should
remain secret.
A panel of three judges from the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments on
whether a provision of the Patriot Act, which requires people who are formally contacted
by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for information to keep it a secret, is
constitutional.

Army Hopes Dropouts Can Fill Gaps (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 20:02)
But the U.S. Army, eager to fill its ranks amid wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, doesn't
see them as dropouts. They are recruits who only need a GED before they're ready to begin
basic training.
And so, the Army formally opens its first prep school Wednesday.
TVNL COMMENT: DROPOUTS = AMERICA\'S HEROS.

More and More People Are Catching on to Mainstream Media Lies (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:37)
George Orwell in his prophetic book '1984' said, "Political language... is designed to
make lies sound truthful... and give an appearance of solidarity to pure wind."
Hitler's propaganda henchman Dr. Goebells said, "If you tell people a big enough lie,
often enough, they will believe it."
There are many definitions of lies and the Thesaurus has a great source of words to
describe the distorting and twisting of any facts. Among the word variations that cover
the outrageous manipulations we experience daily are fabrication, inference misstatement,
falsification, evasion, deceit and deception. A lie is the deliberate withholding of any
part of the truth from someone who has a right to know.

Low Cholesterol Increases Cancer and Death Risk (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:34)
In a major shot fired across the bow of the statin marketing machine, the levels of LDL
cholesterol that are the artificial targets of "health" promoted by the American Heart
Association (AHA) are now found to be associated with a significant increased risk of
cancer and death.
The AHA recommends an LDL level of 100 for prevention and 70 for high risk patients. In
the new study an LDL level of 107 was associated with a 33% increased risk of cancer and
death, an LDL level of 87 was associated with a 50% increased risk. As the LDL goes lower
the risk keeps getting worse. These arbitrary AHA levels for LDL cholesterol were
established by "EXPERTS" WITH DIRECT FINANCIAL TIES TO THE STATIN INDUSTRY, who knew full
well that reaching their artificially low target levels for LDL would require double and
triple doses of statin drugs, thus dramatically increasing sales (which has indeed
happened).

ABC Reporter Arrested in Denver Taking Pictures of Senators, Big Donors (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:13)
Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were
attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic Senators and VIP donors
leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.
Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa
Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.
A cigar-smoking Denver police sergeant, accompanied by a team of five other officers,
first put his hands on Eslocker's neck, then twisted the producers arm behind him to put
on handcuffs.

BLACK RASPBERRIES SLOW CANCER BY ALTERING HUNDREDS OF GENES (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 18:58)
Stoner notes that black raspberries have vitamins, minerals, phenols and phytosterols,
many of which individually are known to prevent cancer in animals.
“Freeze drying the berries concentrates these elements about ten times, giving us a
power pack of chemoprevention agents that can influence the different signaling pathways
that are deregulated in cancer,” he says.

US and Russian warships line up in dispute over Georgia (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:33)
US and Russian warships took up positions in the Black Sea today in a risky war of
nerves on opposing sides of the Georgia conflict.
With the Russians effectively controlling Georgia's main naval base of Poti, Moscow also
dispatched the Moskva missile cruiser and two smaller craft on "peacekeeping" duties at
the port of Sukhumi on the coast of Abkhazia, the breakaway region that the Kremlin
recognised as independent yesterday.

Arctic Sea Ice Drops to 2nd Lowest Level on Record (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 17:21)
Arctic Ocean sea ice has melted to the second lowest minimum since satellite
observations began, according to scientists at the National Snow and Ice Data Center. Sea
ice melt recorded on Monday exceeded the low recorded in 2005, which had held second
place.
With several weeks left in the melt season, ice in summer 2008 has a chance to diminish
below the record low set last year, according to scientists at the National Snow and Ice
Data Center.

A new 9/11 clue (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:10)
The recording is titled, “The
WTC-10-5-the-message-about-the-remote-controlled-plane.” In the mélange of scratchy
voices bumping each other off and on, around minute three, the words “remote
controlled-plane” bump through clearly, are interrupted, and finally assert quite
clearly again that “there’s a big truck on King Street with the mural of an airplane
painted on it diving into New York City and exploding.” It was later noted “King
Street between 6th and 7th Avenues,” about a mile north of WTC, which was in direct line
of sight from King St. and 6th Avenue.
What’s more as the NYPD stopped for a look at the truck, two men were seen fleeing from
it and were apprehended by the police.
The reports include the famous or infamous Israeli-owned Amdocs Ltd., reported by Fox to
be spying for Israel through the telecommunication products it sells and systems and
services it operates and offers. Its products are widely used by the US telecommunications
industry and government agencies like the NSA and DEA, to mention a few. Amdocs, in fact,
stores every phone message or request for information made.
Israel has been listening to every phone in America for years and has the technology to
monitor and record who any individual is calling, anywhere in America. It subcontracts
billing and directory services for phone companies around the world, with 90 percent of
American phone companies as clients. But Amdocs is 100 percent Israeli owned.

Cells change identity in promising breakthrough (published Wednesday, 27 August 2008 13:53)
Scientists have transformed one type of cell into another in living mice, a big step
toward the goal of growing replacement tissues to treat a variety of diseases.
The cell identity switch turned ordinary pancreas cells into the rarer type that churns
out insulin, essential for preventing diabetes. But its implications go beyond diabetes to
a host of possibilities, scientists said.
It's the second advance in about a year that suggests that someday doctors might be able
to use a patient's own cells to treat disease or injury without turning to stem cells
taken from embryos.
