TVNL Editor's Comments: I realize that I have been focusing on CNN quite a bit in my newsletters but I could not let this one go by. Yesterday, the most trusted name in news brought us a vital news report; some might say this is ground breaking journalism. The report: Christian Sex Toys. Yes, CNN took the time to do an in depth report on devout Christians’ use of vibrators, lotions and other sex accessories. In the mean time CNN made no mention of the fact that George W. Bush just nominated Granta Nakayama, a partner in a law firm whose clients include W.R. Grace, BP, Dow Chemical and DuPont, to lead the Environmental Protection Agency's far-flung enforcement division. CNN, the “most trusted name in news?” Think about it!Jesse, Editor, TvNewsLIES.org

WAR : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#war

· US 'in talks with Iraq with Iraq rebels' - After weeks of delicate negotiation involving a former Iraqi minister and senior tribal leaders, a small group of insurgent commanders apparently came face to face with four American officials seeking to establish a dialogue with the men they regard as their enemies.

· World Tribunal for Iraq, Culminating Session Testimony - "It will take Iraqis something like a quarter of a century to rebuild their country, to heal their wounds, to reform their society, to bring about some sort of national reconciliation, democracy and tolerance of each other. But that process will not begin until the US occupation of Iraq ends."

· The World Tribunal on Iraq - The World Tribunal on Iraq (WTI) aims to record the severe wrongs, crimes and violations that were committed in the process leading up to the aggression against Iraq, during the war and throughout the ensuing occupation, that continue to be widespread to this day.

· Satellite Imagery of Iraq - At last its possible to easily see what the places we've been hearing about in Iraq for years actually look like (from above.)

· Iraq Occupation: This war can't be won - The questions about U.S. presence in Iraq aren't about winning or losing. The driving factor must be improving, protecting and respecting the lives of the Iraqi people.

· Multiple suicide bombers hit Iraq police, army - Three suicide bomb attacks killed more than two dozen people on Sunday, many of them from the Iraqi security forces, in the northern city of Mosul as insurgents kept up pressure on the US-backed government.

· Travelers stranded by Baghdad airport shutdown - Travelers were stranded when the London-based company that ensures security at Baghdad International Airport staged a strike to demand payment of money owed.

· The Most Cowardly War in History - The assault on Iraq is an assault on all of us: on our dignity, our intelligence, and our future.

· 5 killed, 7 wounded in Iraq mortar attack - Three mortar rounds struck a crowded cafe in a predominantly Shiite neighborhood in Baghdad on Saturday night, killing five civilians and wounding seven, police said.
TVNL Comment: Any way you look at it every death is the fault of the Bush/PNAC administration. Had they continued the inspection process 1700 plus dead Americans would still be alive and tens of thousands of Iraqi dead Iraqi people would still be alive. There is no denying that had the
US not invaded these people would not have been killed.

· Gunmen ambush Iraq police patrol - Gunmen have ambushed a police patrol near the Iraqi city of Ramadi, killing eight officers, police said.
TVNL Comment: Progress? What's the goal; to kill all police in
Iraq? In that case they are making progress!

· Brzezinski rips Bush Iraq War policy - Carter administration national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski charged the Iraq War was being "conducted with tactical and strategic incompetence." - "Our nation also deserves an honest explanation for how we ended up in Iraq. And we deserve a realistic definition of success for a war that increasingly threatens to become a quagmire," Brzezinski said.

· Who Loves the Sun? - Speaking with Steven Aftergood, activist against government secrecy

· 'Is Dick Cheney the new 'Baghdad Bob'?' - Is it just me, or is Vice President Cheney starting to sound like another balding, rose-colored-glasses wearing, war spokesman, Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf, better known as "Baghdad Bob"?

The letter leaked to Raw Story, is also signed by Senators Johnson, Corzine, Reed, Lautenberg, Boxer, Kennedy, Harkin, Bingaman, and Durbin. The text of the letter is below.

DOMESTIC : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#domestic

· Librarians, U.S. attorneys squaring off - That loud "Shhhhh!" you hear Monday may be the sound of 25,000 librarians reacting to U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's defense of the government's right to confiscate people's library records.

· Billions in States’ Homeland Purchases Kept in the Dark - About $8 billion in homeland security funds has been doled out to states since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, but the public has little chance of knowing how all of that money is being spent.

· Deep Throats and Stolen Votes - Ironically this week, Mark Felt, former Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, revealed that he was Watergate's "Deep Throat" and perhaps the most famous whistle-blower in our nation's history, but the embattled Deputy Director of the Hocking County Board of Elections (BOE) Sherole Eaton, Ohio's most well-known whistle-blower, may be fired for courageous attempt to expose alleged election tampering.

· Eminent domain: A big-box bonanza? - The Supreme Court may have just delivered an early Christmas gift to the nation's biggest retailers by its ruling Thursday allowing governments to take private land for business development.

· Public isn't buying Bush's 'fake reality show' - The shelf life of the fakery that sold the war has also expired.

· Concerns arise over Bush's pick for EPA job - President Bush has nominated Granta Nakayama, a partner in a law firm whose clients include W.R. Grace, BP, Dow Chemical and DuPont, to lead the Environmental Protection Agency's far-flung enforcement division.
TVNL Comment: Another example of the criminals being hired to be police.

· Army National Guard enlists job agency - Faced with nationwide recruitment challenges, the Army National Guard has partnered with Labor Ready, a provider of temporary jobs for unskilled workers, in the hopes the Tacoma-based company's 700 branches across the nation can help boost the dwindling number of recruits.

EDITORIAL : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#editorial

· Anatomy of a Coverup - The _NYT_ articles -- masterpieces of delay, indirection, distraction, fake rebuttals, and elegant omission -- keep readers ignorant of the lies and the lying liars who tell them. No wonder so many Americans still support this gangster war.

· The history of smoking guns - In this new, prudent post-Watergate era, which has stretched through to the present day, there were no smoking guns. It wasn't long before those documented attempts to assassinate Castro became "alleged attempts" or, the final fate of many a smoking gun, "an old story."

· This presidency ended my pride in America - I have a lapel button with this caption: “Proud to be an American, Ashamed of my government.” I will now have to revise the first part to read “No longer proud to be an American.”

JOURNALISM & MEDIA : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#media

· Fox News' Special Report Parrots White House Spin on Rove Comments - Fox News host Brit Hume and White House correspondent Carl Cameron both made misleading claims in defense of controversial remarks by deputy White House chief of staff Karl Rove, who in a June 22 speech stated:...

· How to evaluate Mainstream Media - In this ‘Truth-Scale,’ your preferred MM may receive from 0 points (deafening effect of lies and propaganda) to 50 points (reliable news source, as subscribers may expect and the many journalists should be paid for to deliver).

· Big Media Interlocks with Corporate America - However, mainstream media no longer produce news for the mainstream population-nor should we consider the media as plural. Instead it is more accurate to speak of big media in the US today as the corporate media and to use the term in the singular tense-as it refers to the singular monolithic top-down power structure of self-interested news giants.

· Ashcroft Gone, Justice Statues Disrobe - With barely a word about it, workers at the Justice Department Friday removed the blue drapes that have famously covered two scantily clad statues for the past 3 1/2 years. - The drapes, installed in 2002 at a cost of $8,000, allowed then-Attorney General John Ashcroft to speak in the Great Hall without fear of a breast showing up behind him in television or newspaper pictures.
