TVNL Editor's Comments: Let’s give some credit to the folks at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. They did not put up with the political hack that had recently been appointed to lead them. The purpose of the appointment was to make sure public broadcasting shifted their content from accurate information to more conservative political & social content. Well that did not last long. It actually has given me a little hope for the future of broadcast news and information.

It also did not take this Republican political hack to get into trouble. He is already under investigation. That didn’t take to long! How dirty can the GOP get? Let’s face it, both Democrats and Republicans in office are criminals but at least when a Democrat is breaking laws or acting unethically it usually is for personal gain (or pleasure), nobody actually gets hurt (in the literal sense) or killed and for the most part it does not weaken the nation. • UN says US should repay Iraq for Halliburton overcharges - A few years ago, a separate audit undertaken by the Pentagon determined that Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown and Root in 2003 and 2004 had overcharged for fuel deliveries to the US Military. Before becoming Vice President, Dick Cheney was the chief executive for Halliburton. In December of 2003, President Bush said, "If there is an overcharge, like we think there is, we expect that money to be repaid."

• FBI: Financial Gain Drove Uranium Forgery - The session occurred following a newspaper report alleging Italy had passed the documents to Britain and the United States knowing that they were fake.

• Source of Forged Niger-Iraq Uranium Documents Identified - Italy's spymaster identified an Italian occasional spy named Rocco Martino on Thursday as the disseminator of forged documents that described efforts by Iraq to buy uranium ore from Niger for a nuclear weapons program, three lawmakers said Thursday.

• Second Judge Out for DeLay Trial - Administrative Judge B.B. Schraub, a Republican who was to have selected the judge for the case, withdrew after Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle filed a request to have him removed. • Camera may have found source of radioactive leak at Indian Point - In August, during an excavation project, the company discovered slightly radioactive water on the outside of the underground wall of the spent fuel pool.
