FOOD FOR
THOUGHT: If every
subscriber to this mailing list donated $1
per week our minimum financial needs would be met. If we doubled the size
of our list it would only take $0.50 per week. Being financed to this point
would mean that TvNewsLIES could pay for it’s
overhead and any money over this amount could go towards hiring reporters and
expanding the new radio program. It would also allow TvNewsLIES could repay my original investment so that I can
do things like pay the rent and buy food! Just something to think about. http://tvnewslies.org/html/an_urgent_message.html
Editor’s Comments - http://tvnewslies.org/blog
|
TVNL Editor's
Comments: It has been
a while since I last watched FOX News. I tuned in
for about 20 seconds today. I now remember why I do not watch it. Being a
media watchdog I would probably feel obligated to report the little bits of
deception that I find or point out the non-journalistic approach to reporting
news about things they want you to decide. Well, not that I am lazy but FOX
news is too much for one person to watchdog. In 20 seconds I could not find
one single sentence that adhered to the standards of journalism. They did not
only sneak opinion into their piece (on the UN’s report on human rights
violations by the US in Iraq), but they
stated virtually every sentence with an opinion or an insinuation. I won’t
even talk about the misleading information within the report itself.
When you watch or listen to a “journalist” you are
not supposed to know how he or she feels about the information being
reported. Can you say this about any “journalist” you see on TV? I bet you
can’t! Think about it! – Jesse, Editor,

WAR : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#war
|
· UK-base workers seized in Basra - An investigation has been launched after three
Iraqis working for UK forces in Basra were kidnapped.
TVNL Comment: "We are all better off without Saddam!" Well,
maybe not "all!"
· Tough G.I.'s
Go to War Armed With Afghan ABC's - As the 10th Mountain Division prepared to go to Afghanistan this month, its Third Brigade
ordered boxes of the Pakistani journalist Ahmed Rashid's seminal book
"Taliban" to be issued to officers along with body armor, high-tech
seven-layer cold weather uniforms and ballistic-grade Oakley Blade wraparound
sunglasses.
· Widespread Attacks Kill 14 in Iraq - Iraq's Interior Ministry has launched an investigation
into claims that a police death squad has been operating in the country, a
top official said Thursday. Attacks around the country killed 14 people,
including six Iraqis in a car bombing and three sheiks in a drive-by shooting.

POLITICS : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news#politics
|
· Cheney Says He Can Declassify Information - Vice President Dick Cheney says he has the power to declassify government secrets,
raising the possibility that he authorized his former chief of staff to pass
along sensitive prewar data on Iraq to reporters.
TVNL Comment: Cheney simply has the power to do whatever he wants.

9/11
News
: http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#911
|
· Pentagon denies data program gave Sept. 11 clues - But a defense intelligence officer and two
contractors who worked on the secret program told a congressional committee
the secret data-mining operation called "Able Danger" revealed intelligence on Sept. 11 mastermind Mohammed Atta and others that should have been a tip-off of the
attacks.
· US 'let slip 9/11 hijacker 13 times' - A secret Pentagon unit had Mohammed Atta, the 9/11 ringleader, in its crosshairs 13 times
before the 2001 attacks, a US congressman has claimed citing the unit's records.
- Weldon said he now had proof there had been several attempts to transfer
the information to the FBI, but they were blocked by lawyers for the
administration of George Bush.
|
CONGRESS : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#congress
|
· Patriot Act Moves Ahead Despite Opposition - "Sometimes cosmetics will make a beauty out of a beast and
provide enough cover for senators to change their vote," Specter told
reporters Wednesday.
TVNL Comment: Cosmetics do not change the fact that this is the most
un-American act to pass since slavery was considered legal. Congress is activly destroying the Constitution. We should remove
them for this assault on our nation!
|
DOMESTIC : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#domestic
|
· U.S. Money Aids World’s Worst Dictators -
Parade magazine recently ranked the twenty worst dictators currently in
power. Many names are familiar—Fidel Castro, Muammar Qaddafi, Kim Jong-Il, Robert Mugabe and others. They are all guilty of human rights
violations and in some cases have committed outright genocide. But there’s
another trait common to all twenty leaders—every single one has received
foreign aid from wealthy Western countries.
· Maryland's Republican Governor Issues Devastating Blow to Diebold! - In
Letter to Election Board, Guv of Diebold's Model State Declares He 'No Longer Has Confidence in Their
Ability to Conduct Fair and Accurate Elections'
· Gonzales Withholding Plame Emails - Sources close to the investigation into the leak
of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson have
revealed this week that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has not turned over
emails to the special prosecutor's office that may incriminate Vice President
Dick Cheney, his aides, and other White House
officials who allegedly played an active role in unmasking Plame Wilson's identity to reporters.
|
ENVIRONMENT : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#environment
|
· Drought seen lasting across Horn of Africa til April - At least several dozen people and tens of
thousands of livestock have already died in East Africa due to a drought
afflicting Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Tanzania and Burundi since late
2005.
|
INTERNATIONAL : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#international
|
· Australia Shifts Control of Abortion Drug - Australia's
parliament on Thursday stripped regulatory control of an abortion drug from
the country's health minister - a staunch Roman Catholic who once warned of
an ``epidemic'' of abortion in Australia.
· Bush proposes cuts for overseas family planning - President George W. Bush, who five years ago acted on his first
full day in office to deny U.S. aid to overseas groups that help women obtain
abortions, is for the first time proposing sharp cuts in financing for
international family planning programs that the White House had described as
one of the best ways to prevent abortion.
TVNL Comment: More lies and promises broken. More media complicity by not
exposing this to the public.
· Abu Ghraib abuse against
international law: ICRC - However,
the Swiss-based body, whose confidential reports have previously accused the U.S. military of using tactics "tantamount to
torture" on inmates at the Baghdad jail, declined to say whether it would raise the
issue again with Washington.

EDITORIAL : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#editorial
|
· Another Former Devoted Republican Calling Bush "Worse Than
Hitler" - "Bush is worse
than Hitler ever dreamed of being," said Callum,
who comes from strong Republican Midwestern roots and whose father was a
Republican state legislator. "And we won't get rid of him-not as long as
it is wink and nod from Diebold and other equally ruthless and moral-less
companies who make election 'counting' machines which can be adjusted to see
Republicans win when they haven't even come close! "I
come from a Republican family and we HATE Bush for what he is doing to this
nation and the Constitution!"
|
JOURNALISM
& MEDIA : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#media
|
· Local station refuses to run pro-DeLay ad - After
four Houston TV stations initially refused last month to show an ad
criticizing the Republican House member from Sugar Land, at least one local station is refusing to run a new spot that
promotes the lawmaker and attacks a prominent supporter of the Democrats.
|
HEALTH & SCIENCE : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#health
|
· Bush Budget Would Cut Popular Health
Programs - President Bush has requested billions more to prepare for potential disasters such
as a biological attack or an influenza epidemic, but his proposed budget for
next year would zero out popular health projects that supporters say target
more mundane, but more certain, killers.
|
OF
INTEREST : http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#interest
|
· Hidden history of US germ testing - Fifty years ago, American scientists were in a frantic race to counter
what they saw as the Soviet threat from germ warfare. Biological pathogens
they developed were tested on volunteers from a pacifist church and were also
released in public places.
