With Washington, D.C.’s mayoral primary days away, President Donald Trump suggested that the federal government could “take back” the nation’s capital if a progressive candidate wins.

Trump did not name a candidate, but appeared to be referencing D.C. Council member Janeese Lewis George, a self-described democratic socialist leading recent polls ahead of the June 16 Democratic primary to replace outgoing Mayor Muriel Bowser.

“I wouldn’t like it – and maybe we take back Washington, run it on the federal basis,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “We won’t put up with it. We’re not going to lose our businesses.”

Lewis George has emerged as a front-runner in the race, leading former D.C. Council member at-large Kenyan McDuffie by 11 points in a recent Washington Post–George Mason University Schar School poll.

A federal judge slapped a preliminary injunction on President Donald Trump’s so-called “Anti-Weaponization Fund” for Jan. 6 rioters on Friday.

“The bottom line is I don’t have the type of uncontestable evidence to show that [attempting to create the fund] would not be repeated,” Judge Leonie Brinkema said. “And there is clear evidence, in terms of statements by the acting attorney general and multiple statements by the president who has talked about how important it is that this fund should go forward.”

Justice Department attorney Andrew Block was unable to explain why the government simply could not put in writing that there were no plans to accept claims or conduct payouts.

“I don’t know, your honor. I have not had the ability to speak to the attorney general and ask that question,” Block said.

A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to reinstall exhibits and signs on topics like slavery and climate change that it had removed from parks and monuments nationwide because they "do not align with its preferred narrative."

U.S. District Judge Angel Kelley in Boston issued a preliminary injunction June 12 at the behest of groups representing park conservationists, historians and scientists, who argued that the Department of the Interior has been engaged in a "sustained campaign to erase history and undermine science."

Removing these signs not only undermines “the integrity of the National Parks; it sets a dangerous precedent of censorship and sanitization,” Kelley said.

Kelley said she was ordering the government to restore the signs within 21 days, "by the 250th anniversary to properly honor the remarkable achievements of the United States."

The Wall Street Journal eviscerated President Donald Trump and his “groundless” defamation suit against the paper, its owners and two of its reporters in a scathing 22-page motion to dismiss filed Wednesday.

Last year, Trump slapped the Journal with a lawsuit demanding a whopping $10 billion in damages for reporting about a salacious drawing he allegedly contributed to a book of birthday wishes for disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The article included no accusations of criminal conducts, leading a judge to toss the original suit for failing to demonstrate the outlet acted with “malice” in publishing the piece — the strict legal standard set to prevent public figures and politicians from filing frivolous defamation claims that infringe on the First Amendment.

Nevertheless, Trump responded by filing yet another suit in May, which the Journal tore into as sloppy, redundant and “woefully” weak while standing by journalists Khadeeja Safdar and Joseph Palazzolo (who are also defendants) in its latest motion to dismiss.
