A federal judge ordered the Trump administration on June 5 to restore programs funded by AmeriCorps grants in 24 Democratic-led states but declined to bar the federal agency for national service and volunteering from cutting the bulk of its workforce.

U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman in Baltimore issued an injunction requiring the administration to reinstate millions of dollars in grants in those states and the District of Columbia and ordered the administration to restore thousands of volunteer service workers the administration had sent home.

Her ruling applied only to the Democratic-led states who sued in April to challenge what they said was an unlawful dismantling of AmeriCorps by Republican President Donald Trump's administration.

Musk calls for Trump's impeachment

Musk calls for impeachment

Elon Musk unleashed a fresh round of tweets late Thursday afternoon, calling for President Trump to be impeached and declaring that SpaceX would begin decommissioning a spacecraft essential to NASA's operation.

Why it matters: Trump's threat to cancel billions of dollars of government contracts with Musk's companies has ignited a new round of escalation in the explosive civil war between the two former allies.

Driving the news: "In light of the President's statement about cancellation of my government contracts, SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately," Musk wrote on X.

  • The U.S. has relied on the Dragon spacecraft, both crewed and cargo versions, for years to keep the International Space Station supplied and operating. Shutting them down would leave the ISS reliant on Russia.

The intrigue: Ian Miles Cheong, a prominent Musk supporter and right-wing activist on X, tweeted: "President vs Elon. Who wins? My money's on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him."

  • Musk responded to Cheong: "Yes."

Jean-Pierre triggers Democratic fury with public split from party

Jean-Pierre

Democrats are furious with former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s decision to publicly leave the party and announce she’s a political independent while promoting a book.

Jean-Pierre served as former President Biden’s voice to the media for more than two and a half years, and her decision to split from the party at a time when it is particularly troubled has been more than irksome to Democrats.

Dr. Oz on Medicaid cuts: People should ‘prove that they matter’

Dr. OzCenters for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz defended President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” over criticism that millions of people could lose health coverage, saying those who would face new work requirements should “prove that they matter.”

Oz made the comments during an interview Wednesday on Fox Business, arguing that when Medicaid was created in the 1960s lawmakers did not include work requirements because it “never dawned on anybody that able-bodied people who work would be on Medicaid.”

“We’re asking that able-bodied individuals who are able to go back to work at least try to get a job or at least volunteer or take care of loved-one who needs help or go back to school,” he said. “Do something that shows you have agency over your future.”

If Americans are willing to do that, he added, they should be able to be enrolled or stay enrolled in Medicaid.

Elon Musk Goes To War Against Big Beautiful Bill: 'KILL the BILL'

Elon MuskFormer White House advisor Elon Musk escalated his attacks on the big Republican bill cutting taxes and Medicaid, urging Americans to call their lawmakers to kill the bill.

“Call your Senator, Call your Congressman, Bankrupting America is NOT ok! KILL the BILL,” Musk wrote on his social media platform Wednesday.

The legislation is supposed to encompass the entirety of President Donald Trump’s domestic policy agenda for his second term, so Musk’s aggressive opposition, just one week after leaving his job as a senior adviser to the president, is striking.

A senior White House official told The Wall Street Journal Trump is “losing patience” with Musk and “confused” as to why the Tesla CEO is savaging his biggest legislative priority.

The billionaire entrepreneur ramped up his attacks on the legislation starting Tuesday, saying Republicans should be ashamed to vote for it. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said he was blindsided by Musk’s change of tone after they’d had a cordial conversation on Monday.
