Trump reportedly pushing new unproven coronavirus treatment that is also embraced by HUD Sec. Ben Carson and MyPillow's Mike Lindell

Oleandrin pushed by Trump as coronavirus cure

President Donald Trump is eyeing another unproven coronavirus "cure," at the recommendation of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Axios reported Sunday.

Oleandrin — a botanical extract from the oleander plant — was suggested to the president by Carson in a meeting in the Oval Office in July, according to the Axios report.

MyPillow's founder and CEO, Mike Lindell, who's known to be well-connected with the president, also is said to have expressed support for the experimental extract. Lindell has a financial stake in the company developing the oleandrin product, Phoenix Biotechnology.

TVNL Comment:  Maniacs are charge of the asylum.  Not to believe.

'I'm not a saint': Lukashenko offers to hand over power after referendum

Lukashenko of BelarusAlexander Lukashenko, the leader of Belarus, said on Monday he would be ready to hold new elections and hand over power after a constitutional referendum, an attempt to pacify mass protests and strikes that pose the biggest challenge yet to his rule.

He made the offer, which he insisted would not be delivered on while he was under pressure from protesters, after exiled opposition politician Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said she was willing to lead the country.

In a sign of his growing vulnerability, Lukashenko faced heckling and chants of “step down” during a speech to workers at one of the large state-run factories that are the pride of his Soviet-style economic model and core support base.

Vaccine makers including Moderna must hit U.S. timing goals for full payments

VaccineThe United States is tying payments for COVID-19 vaccines to timing milestones for production and approval, according to public documents and a Trump administration official, putting pressure on drugmakers including Moderna Inc (MRNA.O) to meet ambitious targets.

In a deal with Moderna announced this week, federal agencies negotiated a sliding scale of payments. The Cambridge, Massachusetts, biotech’s $1.5-billion deal pays out in full if its vaccine receives regulatory clearance by January 31, 2021, according to filings. It receives $1.2 billion, if it falls short of that timing goal.

Moderna also receives $600 million when it can demonstrate it has built out industrial-scale manufacturing capabilities for its vaccine, even if that happens before the drug is authorized by regulators, the filings show.

TVNL Comment:  Money talks.  Billions of dollars talk very loudly.  Be ready for an untested, very possibly unsafe, and surely premature vaccine.

Ohio governor says Covid-19 tests are reliable despite receiving false positive

Ohio Gov. DeWine

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine wants Americans to believe that Covid-19 testing is reliable, despite receiving conflicting positive and negative results on the day he was set to meet with President Donald Trump.

“People should not take away from my experience that testing is not reliable or doesn’t work,” DeWine said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” of his false positive Thursday. After the positive test, he subsequently tested negative three times.

He noted that the antigen test he took that day that revealed the false positive “should be looked at as a screening test,” and that 1.3 million Ohioans have taken a PCR test, which is “very very reliable.”

The Bombs of August : In Remembrance of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Hirosihma, 1945When the bombs were dropped I was very happy. The war would be over now, they said, and I was very happy. The boys would be coming home very soon they said, and I was very happy. We showed ‘em, they said, and I was very happy. They told us that the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki had been destroyed, and I was very happy. But in August of 1945 I was only ten years old, and I was very, very happy.

The crew of the B-29 was so young and heroic, and in the photo they also looked very happy.  For some reason, I clearly remember the name of the pilot, Paul Tibbets. Of course I remember the name of the plane, the Enola Gay.  And oh yes, I remember the name of the bomb.  It was called Little Boy. That made me smile.

I was so proud to be an American that day because we had done something so remarkable. They said we were the first. We were Americans. We were powerful.  But they didn’t say that Little Boy had killed 66,000 people with its huge fireball that fateful day in August. They didn’t say that Hiroshima was not a military target, but a city filled with men and women and children and animals who had no idea they were about to die so horribly.  When you’re ten, they don’t always tell you everything.

Nancy Pelosi Slams Trump’s Coronavirus Executive Actions: ‘Absurdly Unconstitutional’

Pelosi

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday tore into President Donald Trump’s decision to sidestep Congress and take executive action on coronavirus relief, calling the measures “absurdly unconstitutional.”

But she stopped short of saying whether Democrats would mount legal challenges to the measures ― one executive order and three memorandums ― signed by Trump on Saturday.

“Well, the fact is, is that whether they’re legal or not takes time to figure out,” Pelosi told CNN’s “State of the Union” when asked if she would sue to stop the executive actions.
