Micky D's Partnership with FOX: News-vertisement?

With ad revenues falling, partly due to TiVo users recording programs and skipping through commercial breaks, Madison Avenue has recently shifted its emphasis to product placement within programming. A recent partnership between several FOX affiliates and McDonald's is getting a lot of attention.

For weeks, the same two McDonald's Iced Coffee cups have graced the bottom third of the screen on the FOX affiliate KVVU's morning news/lifestyle show. The anchors don't touch the cups, a good idea since they're fake.

Post Reporter Hopes Protesters March on Post Building over Chandra Series

In an internal communique, Washington Post Metro reporter Robert Pierre lashed out at the paper’s management for running the ongoing series on the murder of Chandra Levy. Pierre wrote that he found it “unconscionable” that the paper would devote a year and 12 chapters to the murder of a white woman, when around 200 people per year are murdered in the District–most of them male African Americans. The other local murder that “captivated” the Post, in Pierre’s telling, claimed the life of New York Times journalist David E. Rosenbaum. “Also white,” writes Pierre, who directed his outburst at Post Ombudsman Deborah Howell.

Israeli Claims over Journalist Challenged

Medical reports seen by IPS appear to confirm the testimony of IPS Gaza correspondent Mohammed Omer of physical abuse at the hands of Israelis last month.

Omer said he was physically and mentally abused at the Allenby crossing into Gaza while on his way back from a European tour. In London, he was awarded the Martha Gellhorn prize for investigative reporting.

Bush murder trial book, blacked out by mainstream media, thrives on Internet

Former Los Angeles district attorney Vincent Bugliosi became widely known as the prosecutor of Charles Manson and later wrote bestselling books about that case, the O.J. Simpson trial, and other topics. However, Bugliosi's latest effort, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, has faced what CNN calls "a virtual media blackout."

Photog Kicked Out of Iraq Embed For Showing Photo of Dead Marine

Only about a dozen reporters are currently embedded with U.S. forces in Iraq -- a shockingly low number.

The Marine commanders who saw the photograph were not happy, saying it violated a "trust" between the military and journalists.

Zoriah was immediately "disembedded" from a Marine unit and barred from working with the military in Anbar.

Many sites have already been "locked" by Blogger for their political content or their links, on the pretext of being so-called "spam sites".

Journalist Charges Censorship by US Military in Fallujah

"I made them copies, but then one of the Marines came in and told me to delete my memory card after I give them the photos, and I refused," Miller told IPS, "I told the NCIS that if they forced me to delete them, I would stop sharing them. So they stopped pressing that issue."
